Guidelines were described as: “fuelling a culture of hostility and suspicion towards abortion and pregnancy loss”. We can see where this is leading…
"Police have been issued guidance on how to search women’s homes for abortion drugs and check their phones for menstrual cycle tracking apps after unexpected pregnancy loss"

"...police could bypass legal requirements for a court order to obtain medical records..."

Astonishing evidence at the Covid Inquiry.

The Government repeatedly ignored offers from the Crick Institute to provide mass testing on a national scale.

Instead, the Government paid Deloitte consultants to project manage, not yet established, privately run labs.

Excellent 🧵 from @robertsaunders.bsky.social that’s worthwhile reading 👇 - the dangers and allure of authoritarian democracy and why liberal processes matter:
A core feature of the Trump regime is its embrace of "authoritarian democracy", as a battering ram with which to demolish any obstacle to its power.

The very notion of "authoritarian democracy" can sound contradictory.

But it's an old & dangerous idea, that needs to be better understood. [THREAD]
Stephen Miller on the court order to release Tufts student Rümeysa Öztürk: "There's a judicial coup in this country....This judicial coup by a handful of Marxist judges...can only be understood as an attack on democracy."

I’d like to flag that if you have 45 minutes at 14:05 today, Talking Pictures are screening A Home Of Your Own with Bernard Cribbins, Ronnie Barker et al.
A bit of a classic - no spoken word, lots of cups of tea drunk by lots of builders and very elegant comedic storytelling.
Schedule for today, Friday 2nd May on #TalkingPicturesTV
