I am all kinds of geekiness.
Pinned
Intro for newskis: I'm a Weird Old Lady and a giant nerd. I read a lot, I work in a library, I love horror and fantasy and science fiction, I knit and spin and I have approximate knowledge of many things.
(Yes, I am also the same Harmonyfb from the bird site and Livejournal. My horror is eternal.)
Drop your favorite foreign language horror films:
(from the past decade or so; there are too many to start at the beginning.)

Look what my sweet Manly Man got me for Valentine’s Day! He knows me so well. #TruWuv

My opinion on the "Wuthering Heights" movie:

Have you people READ the book? It's a terrible story full of terrible, toxic people that nobody should want to spend 2 hours hanging out with. I wouldn't have finished it if I didn't have to for a class. Stop acting like it's a love story! #NoSeriously

It's time! #HorrorWatch tonight is once again the masterpiece "Black Sunday" by Mario Bava, starring the incomparable Barbara Steele. Join us or mute that hashtag!

Tried to take a selfie, realized that I look *exactly* like all the great-aunts that I disdained in my youth because of how 'ugly' they were. Ouch. #SoberingMirrorToLookInto

Sorry, Aunt Aileen. (I am better dressed, tho. My opinions of the fashions/hairstyles of the mid '70s have not changed.)

Tiny kitty feet for your viewing pleasure.

I read TWO great books today:

"But Not Too Bold" by @hachepueyo.bsky.social - so spooky! Old One that looks like a giant spider & her house staff.

"Father Gaetano's Puppet Catechism" by @mikemignola.bsky.social & Christopher Golden - Creepy puppets, some pointed religious commentary. #BookSky

Finished "The Works of Vermin" by @hironennes.bsky.social, and it was stunning. Great worldbuilding, a society based on art (in a not-so-good way), perfumes w/magical properties, hallucinatory insects, body horror, political upheaval, queer characters, hell yiss. Kick-ass fantasy. Read it! #BookSky

Don't forget to vote for this week's Creepy Cinema! What shall we subject ourselves to? #HorrorWatch
All right my gibbering graverobbers of #HorrorWatch! What shall we watch for our second Scream Queen themed week of February?

Ten minutes until #HorrorWatch looms behind you! Tonight's offering is "The Curse of the Crimson Altar", starring Barbara Steele and Boris Karloff. Be there or be cursed to miss out on Steele's ridiculous headpiece!

Watching “Tron:Ares” at work (for the library movie day). This is terrible.

What I wish I was watching? Anything else. (We just shelved “Somnium”; why can’t I show that? SIGH) #Movies #LibraryLife

1. Patron says "I spilled something on this". Me: Is that BLOOD? (Yes. She "spilled" blood. She fucking HANDED it to me.)

2. Patron returns books with liquid damage, pages stuck together, stains, and MOLD. So. Much. Mold.

Not one, but TWO surgery-prep-level scrub-downs today. 😡FML #LibraryLife

Oh, no, almost late to #HorrorWatch! Tonight's movie is "The Trail" (2024) - one I've never even heard of! Join us for weirdness or mute that hashtag like it's your job!

Need soothing media to keep you from spiraling?

Currently playing “Strange Horticulture” (you’re an apothecary identifying plants, making potions & solving small puzzles).

Currently watching “The Residence” - a White House murder mystery set after the current regime, very light & funny.

My impulse buy during “Reanimator” has finally arrived from @creaturecoslabs.bsky.social !!!

Behold the glory!! The palettes & yellow lipstick were a $25 mystery box, so I’m pretty pleased! #Horrorwatch

My elderly baby meowed until I got on the couch with her; she’s periodically opening her eyes to make *sure* I’m still sitting here. I swear, it’s like having a toddler. #Cats

Stay warm, friends in cold places. Make a nest, burrow in it, read books, drink coffee/tea, and dream of Spring. :worries about all of you:

Half an hour til #HorrorWatch calls you to bear witness to the weirdness that is 1978's "The Visitor". Starring a cornucopia of White Film Guys (John Huston! Sam Peckinpah! Glenn Ford!) and bad-ass actress Shelley Winters. Fake snow! Explosions! Car Crashes! Be there or mute that hashtag, baby!

My daily glimpse at the news is giving a lot of “Who will rid me of this turbulent priest?” energy.

:Lightning crashes, spooky organ music sounds from within the bowels of the castle: Hear the footsteps of #HorrorWatch inexorably approaching!

Tonight's tale of cosmic terror is 1970's "The Dunwich Horror", featuring Sandra Dee (yes, really) and Dean Stockwell (sidekick from Quantum Leap).

I have an unexpected day off today; when I stumbled out of bed at 11 am, my cat was absolutely THRILLED. She made me sit on the couch & is now happily snoring next to me. I had things to do today. Guess they’re not getting done. 😄

When I was taught CPR in the late 70s/early 80s, the timing was supposed to be a lot faster than that guy is doing. #HorrorWatch

Half an hour until the theater of the darned (aka #HorrorWatch) raises its curtain to reveal the face of snarky horror! Tonight's film is "Reanimator" - a bloody, sarcastic '80s romp which will imbed flippant lines so deep into your brain meat that you'll be quoting them decades from now.

Currently reading a locked-room mystery set aboard the Lusitania's final voyage ("Death on the Lusitania" by R. L. Graham.)

Since I had been in a reading-blackout since finishing "You Weren't Meant to be Human"(it was a LOT), I'm ready to get back to my normal habits. #BookSky
