This is, as @drjademcglynn.bsky.social acknowledges, not a maximalist solution - it's the bare minimum that the West - or rather Europeans - should do. Ensuring that Ukraine loses more slowly is no use to UA or to Europe; Russian victory in Ukraine wd encourage RU aggression elsewhere in Europe.
