The celebration and digital metastasization of conspiratorial thinking culminating with the U.S. head of health and human services believing that and governing as if modern diseases don’t emerge naturally, pandemics are all manmade, and science (not the complexities of nature) is to blame.

When I was a medical student 45 years ago, I clerked in a 13 year old girl with deep jaundice and an abdominal mass. She was Hepatitis B positive. That had led to a primary liver tumour. In a 13-year-old. She was dead within the month. Avoidable with vaccination.
The CDC has endorsed ACIP’s decision of revoking universal access in USA to hepatitis B vaccines at birth. The policy had been in place for 34y and was changed despite no new evidence emerging of any risk of vaccination. #HealthPolicy 🧵
CDC accepts ACIP’s hepatitis B vaccine recommendations for babies
The CDC also said if a baby is not receiving a birth dose of vaccine, the initial dose should be administered no earlier than 2 months of age.

Much of the decline of #manufacturing employment at the industry level in #Germany reflects a shift of manufacturing tasks into service sector firms rather than a disappearance of manufacturing work.

My second post about researchers’ rights to scrape data under DSA Article 40.12 is up! This is dense with legal arguments for researchers to use if they get sued. Or to show their lawyers before that.

Very sad news. I have been a big fan of her work and remember meeting her as truly kind and interested in others' work.
The brilliant Kate Ho has passed away.

She was an amazing economist and a genuinely kind human being. Her work shaped how we think about healthcare markets and her generosity touched everyone lucky enough to know her.

The profession and the world are poorer without her.

IMHO
1 People should leave X for good. Not salvageable
2 Bluesky should be bought and scaled up to properly compete.

Brexit should have been a lesson. It's a misunderstanding of sovereignty. Individual countries that are not China or the US have to follow the rules set by major powers as they have no bargaining power.

Only together European countries are strong.
