Pogo the squirrel has come for his lunch. He takes a peanut from the snack cupboard and sits munching, his tail curled over his head like a fluffy umbrella to protect him from the drizzle. There's a robin and a blue tit perched on the shed, watching and waiting for him to drop a bit 😄

People say it rains a lot in Scotland. This is generally true, but it does depend where you are. It's been a pretty dry year here and our local reservoir at Backwater, Glen Isla is still 11 metres down!

The coal tits are busy stashing sunflower seeds for the winter, tucking them into nooks and crannies all over the garden. I collect the seeds from the sunflowers that inevitably appear each summer and tip them into the bird feeder. I wonder if they know they're growing their own food 😁

Just watched a huge vee of geese flying overhead. Suddenly they bunched up and bumbled about in a confused mass before sorting themselves out and setting off back in the direction they came from. They must have left the oven on or something 😳
