Brick buildings in old electric substations were primarily used to house, protect, and safely enclose high-voltage equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and rotary converters, while often blending into urban environments with designed aesthetics. They provided durable, fire-resistant housing for crucial electrical infrastructure, particularly in early 20th-century residential or industrial areas. Some have had infrastructure updates , while others were abandoned and renovated into new-use cultural and business uses. Historically, these buildings were common in urban settings, and they now represent a unique, preserved industrial heritage. Especially in the early 1900s, these buildings were designed to be attractive assets to neighborhoods, often utilizing styles like Classical Revival or Art Deco to fit into residential areas.
