Finally did it. I wrote down how to build a code-editing agent.

In 315 lines of code. And yes, it works. Very well.

There is no moat.

The reality of sex and gender is complicated. It calls for nuanced examination and thought. The public sphere is terribly bad at this. Add in the close ties between gender and people's self-image, and the issue is ripe for demagoguery.

Or you could just be kind to people different from you.
The U.K. Supreme Court rules that Britain's equalities law defines a woman as someone born biologically female. The ruling means a transgender person with a certificate that recognizes them as female should not be considered a woman for equality purposes.

We’re in a bubble. When it pops it is going to be really ugly. Ilya Sutskever’s new company has no product and is raising $1 billion at a $30bn valuation. Mira Murati’s new company just announced a complete nothing burger. The longer this goes on the worse it will be.

I'm becoming increasingly radical on "we need to crush decorum and grind it into a fine paste". Tell people they're fucking stupid and their ideas are bad. Don't just sit there and squirm, if you know someone is wrong and can say how and why, fucking say so.

Apparently the gutting of the National Science Foundation is underway at the moment. "More to come."

One can debate whether cuts are warranted, but the mindless, know-nothing fashion in which they are being carried out is inexcusable. This will damage US science for generations.
NEW: NSF confirmed that they fired 168 employees today, out of their staff of ~1,500 feds.

This includes some people who'd finished their 1-year probationary periods, which were extended to 2-years last month without explanation. More to come.

Me: “Oh, cool, so what has to happen for the spell to be broken??”

History: “mmmm…well, that part is less encouraging.”

I had only a cursory look to this report by Jürgen Schmidhuber, who claims that the ideas of Hinton and Hopfield were plagiarized without citation. I want to dive into it, but if true it would be a really bad look for the Nobel prizes as a whole
