Fighting Russian Disinformation 👽

It doesn't matter. Much like russia's combined missile and drone attacks the strategy of deliberate misinformation is purely to overwhelm people by numbers. By the time you prove it's misinformation thousands have seen it and added it to their narrative

<<Tactics and tools - How Russian propaganda uses reflection tactics or Whataboutism

Reflection is a typical Russian propaganda tactic, used in particular to divert attention.

Propagandists make the same accusations against Ukraine / USA / EU / ”collective West” as they bring against Russia.

🧵 Disinformation is different from lying: The "Santa Claus" test.

As the image below shows, it is common to think that disinformation is more or less equivalent to lying. While the intention is welcome, this belief is incorrect and unhelpful.

There was an entire industry of far-left useful idiots who've staked their reputation defending & whitewashing a regime that ran torture camps for working people while owning a vast collection of expensive, capitalist cars.

Anders Breivik, Norwegian terrorist and mass murderer, showed up in court today with the letter Z shaved on his head and a poster with a message of support for Russia.

Just a reminder about what kind of people tend to support Russia.

We’ve now reached the historical moment when Denmark is unquestionably tougher and more realistic in international affairs than any leader of the Republican Party.

WIRED has tracked thousands of US military & intel personnel coming & going from classified sites, incl. NSA hubs & nuclear vaults. We know where they sleep, what they eat, and which brothels they visit.

It's an ocean of blackmail & national secrets within reach of every spy agency in the world.
Anyone Can Buy Data Tracking US Soldiers and Spies to Nuclear Vaults and Brothels in Germany
More than 3 billion phone coordinates collected by a US data broker expose the detailed movements of US military and intelligence workers in Germany—and the Pentagon is powerless to stop it.

We should acknowledge that MAGA and Trump’s victory were enabled by internet platforms whose business models reward fear and outrage. Dems had 8 yrs after FB enabled Trump and never had a floor vote in either chamber on a single bill that could possibly have addressed the harms. 🧵1/x

Long term peace will be achieved by rewarding me this way.

The capture of Internet media at the lowest point of mainstream media trust (post covid) was probably the smartest thing Elon & co ever did.
1/ X's algorithm was changed in mid-July 2024 to systematically boost Republican-leaning accounts and Elon Musk's own account following his endorsement of Donald Trump, according to a newly released computational study of engagement from the Queensland University of Technology.⬇️

The last two times I tried to emigrate to @bsky.app it wasn't moving enough here for my taste. Now there is a different momentum. I think we might have reached the tipping point, we might be able to rid ourselves of that other platform, which is now second only to RT.
