People mostly understand *far* better than either the media or politicians give them credit for. Our media is, as usual, letting us down.
Why do people think England flags have been raised on lampposts?

The last few hours have proven 2 terrible things. First, the US and Russian governments are so close that the US government takes large parts of Russian proposals and passes them off as their own, and second that some people are so desperate to exonerate Trump that they act like this a good thing.

Powerful piece by @drrachelclarke.com on the COVID inquiry. Those who say it’s easy to be wise in hindsight are being utterly disingenuous. Many of us spoke out at the time, and it’s in the public record.

Occasional reminder. If you’ve enthusiastically put flags up on lampposts but you’ve never volunteered in any capacity, then you ain’t no patriot, bro.

I despair. And fear the worst now
Got to say that I read this as “minus one” and thought it was generous.

Johnson missed the vital February COBRA COVID meetings because he was locked away at Chequers writing his awful book after missing a publisher's deadline.

As the so-called leader of the country in a time of crisis, his main priority was fulfilling a private contract.

Wanker.

There’s only one safe way out of this cycle, and that’s to separate the abuser from his victim. In this case that appears to be an entire country, which I concede is on the tricky side. But it is the only safe way out. Ask anyone who’s dealt with abuse.

Today's report makes for devastating reading for all those who lost loved ones to Covid.

The actions of Boris Johnson and his colleagues led to thousands upon thousands of avoidable deaths.

Those who presided over that failure have no place in public life.
