There’s only one safe way out of this cycle, and that’s to separate the abuser from his victim. In this case that appears to be an entire country, which I concede is on the tricky side. But it is the only safe way out. Ask anyone who’s dealt with abuse.

There is something basically out of kilter with our society and judgement when people like Johnson and Cummings are seen as people whose opinion and advice is worth listening to.
