Nobody is “grooming” your kids to be gay or trans but people are grooming them to be Nazis.

I told Teen about this incredibly stupid statement from the Agriculture Secretary.
One hour later --
Me: Hey, I packed lunch for you.
Teen: Is it A piece of broccoli and A corn tortilla?
;)
Brooke Rollins: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing. So there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money."

This week in our #homeschool starts a fun but BUSY 8 week period - so we're maximizing every available minute, especially those spent commuting. Yay podcasts! Continuing with Alegbra, Biology, Prehistory/Geology, & English (w/focus on poetry/creative writing) as well as cooking. <3

Popped into the Old Orchard Barnes & Noble tonight to kill some time - and the whole store is 50% off bc they're moving (staying in the mall, though!) so I grabbed a retelling of Gatsby from the women's perspective and a Gothic by the director of The Love Witch bc why not?! <3

Abolish and prosecute ICE. They did a murder in broad daylight today. Imagine what they're doing in the closed facilities we're somehow not even allowed to see.

Driving an elderly relative downtown for an appointment (CTA isn't an option bc it involves too much walking) and I feel so much sympathy for people who do this drive on the Kennedy 2x/every day bc I wouldn't be able to handle it. <3

Listen, I've loved every second of watching Stranger Things over the last decade - especially once my kid, now a teen, caught up and joined in on the fun. I found the finale really satisfying, and cried multiple times. Team Nancy Wheeler, absolute warrior queen. <3

One of my mental health habits is getting up early and sitting with my cat, coffee, & a notebook in which I make lists and plans before the day's tasks begin. Farewell to this one, which has served me through many ups & downs since August, and has the stickers to prove it - bc stickers are neat. <3

The theatre Teen & I saw (either together or solo) in 2025. Less than typical for us, but some real joys. Its been months, and I still smile at the memory of Titanique. Kid is still buzzing about Phantom. <3

What I read in December 2025. Less than usual, but thats the holidays, and they were all very good/interesting. (Chicago Transit Hikes would make a great gift for local pals who love a wander.) <3

I don't think any board game has gotten as much play in my house as EL, the Chicago Transit Adventure. Everyone's favorite, always. <3

We are now entering the weird liminal space between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Anything could happen during this time. You could feel weirdly nostalgic, you could see a photo of a cat, you could remember to feed your Neopets. The possibilities are endless.
