I seem to have picked up quite a few new followers this weekend, hi! I'm trying to use this place more than the other, so I hope we interact.

From me you'll mainly see posts and shared content about museums, books (especially science fiction), and science.

We had a wonderful morning yesterday at the @sciencemuseum.org.uk filming with Doug Millard and @rooneyvision.bsky.social for our next episodes.

Huge thanks to the team at the Science Museum for letting us play in the Flight Gallery, home to one of the best aircraft collections in the country.

This is Aki. He just realized how to unify Einstein's general relativity theory with quantum mechanics to solve the black hole information paradox, but then remembered he's supposed to be a dog. 13/10 (TT: katelyvxxn)

I just hunted down my favourite Robertson Davies quote, so here it is, for no reason other than it delights me (and makes me feel Seen)

My friend Jillian and I are continuing science book club in 2026!

If you’re looking to read more nonfiction or enhance your science literacy—this is a great group!

We have a discord and also meet once a month via zoom. If you’re interested in joining lmk, we have a great lineup of books!

For two years Hepworth was fascinated by surgical procedures and made studies of the forms and processes. The only surviving notebook from this period is in the @sciencemuseum.org.uk Collection: collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/objects/co86...

Happy new year! My all sky camera imaged the sky every 15 seconds and this picture shows what happened in the sky in 2025. It shows the length of the night and day with the hourglass shape, the monthly lunar cycle with the diagonal bands, the elevation of the Sun at local noon, and lots of clouds.

Princess Mononoke probably, partly because it's amazing, partly because it's the first Ghibli I ever saw, and later the first I saw at the cinema. Big soft spots for Howl and Totoro though, more recently I've also really taken to Wind Rises.
In honor of Hayao Miyazaki's birthday, what's your favorite Studio Ghibli film? Doesn't have to be the one you think is "the best," just the one that nestled in your heart. Mine is Howl's Moving Castle.

Pride and Prejudice is my mum's favourite novel, she used to re-read it every summer holiday from the year she studied it at O-level until sometime in my early teens (c.25 years?). I've never read it but I've decided this year to remedy that situation.

"If music be the food of love, play on, give me excess of it". Tonight I'm at the Barbican to see the RSC Twelfth Night. A Christmas treat to myself.

When people say NYE is always an anti-climax, they are clearly not referring to having dinner inside the Crystal Palace iguanodon, which is obvs the best thing ever
Well, if it’s 31 December, it’s... yes, of course: 172nd anniversary of the dinner Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins, creator of the Crystal Palace dinosaurs, gave for 21 leading academics and other VIPs inside the Iguanodon

Guys guys guys, I found the archive of the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures (it's not an achievement, they've not hidden them) - you can watch every single one since they started televising them in the 60s:

I love watching them every year, now I can see them all!
