Society for New Music in Syracuse, NY performed two movements from my chamber piece, "Sonic Abstractions". If you're interested in dark, glitchy electronics and moody vibes, give it a listen.

This is what I emphasize most in lessons with my students. Write bad music. A lot of it. Keep the 30 seconds that doesn't suck. Then do it again.

I wish we had a political party in America capable of making this argument.
Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

This is how I find out the truth about the tooth fairy.
The Republican health care plan is about as real as the tooth fairy, so I won't hold my breath.
FOX NEWS: So what would Trumpcare look like?

If you like drones, noise, shortwave radio samples, no input mixers, and/or looped electric guitar distortion (with a side helping of field recordings)... have I got just the thing for you.

(It's free! But also you can buy it if you want!)

I understand what this post is saying, but I like to think that Democratic voters are really upset at Senate office supplies.
I think Senate folders are significantly underestimating how fucking angry Democratic voters are at them

Bread lines have been renamed "Freedom Waits". Patriotism requires sacrifice. Love of country over love of carbs!
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

i see a lot of concert postings and can't help but notice we're moving back away from diverse programming. it'd be great to not pat ourselves on the back too quickly and avoid going back to business as usual.

I'm making weird noises for 20 minutes tomorrow in Syracuse. My first DIY improvised noise set outside of academia. I'm equal parts excited and nervous.

My marriage summed up nicely:
Baseball brings people together because it's designed for every attention span. You can watch on TV and look up every time you miss the action and watch a 15 sec replay. The whole game is 7 min. You can also be absorbed by a game and when it abruptly ends with a double play you're 20 years older.

this but with musical structure
heard on a game podcast just now, that a 15 hour, single player game is maybe not long enough.

We have to get past this idea as developers and audiences.

A game will be, and should be, just as long as it needs to be for *what it is*.

I know times are hard for farmers, but it all feels worth it knowing that Donald Trump has a new marble bathroom and will have a ballroom where he can entertain tech billionaires.

My take is... if you believe in something you have to convince others you're right, not relinquish your values and be a slightly less worse option.
Here with yellow checkmarks we have five examples of real things that Gavin Newsom and leading California Democrats espouse. Not a straw man.

My take is Democrats should drop these ideas, ideas that do not sound at all like economic populism to me.

My Dad's first cousin, so technically my second cousin(?) is my "aunt" because it's way easier than trying to understand the first part of this sentence or if the first part of this sentence is genetically accurate.
The Zohran "aunt" thing is the funniest hatchetjob of all time. There was a prominent person in my childhood named Uncle Bonehead who was just a friend of my uncle. To this day I have no idea what his actual name was. This nomenclature is not unusual in my culture (recovered alcoholic Masshole).

Who are you selling products to if your product has taken away the jobs from the people you need to sell records to?
News of an OpenAI browser “is the latest sign of the company heading down the ad-supported road” — but it raises “a troubling question: does the world need trillions worth of computing infrastructure if all AI winds up being is a new version Google/Instagram?)”

If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."
