Legitimate points but god the whole fucking thing is so exhausting this far out.
from the perspective of someone who might want to be president, the best time to run for the white house is now, not later. so if AOC is thinking about it — if the white house is her ambition — then her best bet is to throw her hat in the ring
You Know What? Maybe the Time Is Right for an AOC Presidential Bid
She’s only 36, and there’s a good argument that she should run for Senate and bide her time. But she also could be a formidable White House candidate.

the entire premise of these videos is beautiful and wholesome and the execution is great but also I really just enjoy the fact that they enjoy every single thing they eat and can’t stop talking about how good it all tastes
these two young white guys on IG go to an NYC restaurant each week to try food from a different country. they posted a video bringing together the owners of their first 12 stops & it made me cry bc it was simple & beautiful. just people from all over the world hanging & being pals. how it should be.

The right-wing obsession with Sparta is so weird to me. They were a culture that mandated pedophilia, were ruled by corrupt oligarchs, and eventually collapsed because of their dependence on slave labor and I see it now, that's on me.
And then Spartan Oliganthropia enters the chat

At this point, gambling represents possibly the only faint hope of escaping the crushing weight of modern society. You cannot hustle or grind your way out of poverty, especially not now. And it just keeps getting worse. So, fuck it, why not put a week’s salary on the Jets? This is the dark promise.
I see no reason not to look at the online gambling and prediction market craze as a new opioids crisis.

It will wreak havoc on lower-income Americans and leave a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.

The companies are just Purdue Pharma 2.0

I don’t care how competently AI can mimic an art or writing style. Everything good and real about art is in the little nuances that come from a person’s unique experience of the world. At first glance, AI might look like it’s doing the trick, but it’s all so fucking hollow.

Let me tell you a tale of how completely the normies have been mobilized. My 14 year-old niece has done School of Rock for the past 5 years; last summer she was part of their touring band, and the kids loved playing together so much that they decided to keep doing it. (1/?)

Natalie Portman in The Professional should have been a much bigger red flag in retrospect…
A reminder for everyone excited about that new Dracula movie that Luc Besson has been accused of rape and sexual harassment by at least five women.

I love how AI slopmeisters refer to themselves by bullshit titles like “Hybrid Artist” like they’re the next stage of human evolution and not, you know, frauds.

Anyway, here’s a real painting.

The key is that they can pay an “AI rewrite specialist” poverty wages.
“We plan to hire an AI rewrite specialist to ingest the reporting by Hannah and others and use AI to convert it into stories.”

The editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer said it will use AI to ‘write’ its articles.

So…a tool that objectively puts women at serious risk? If you don’t want to die horribly maybe take up a new career? This is what we’re going with?

If I were a Democrat concerned about winning elections and was hearing that a significant number of voters wouldn’t support Gavin Newsom in 2028, I would simply stop pushing Gavin Newsom in 2026.
look if you want to freak out about people not voting newsom if he's the nominee a week before the 2028 general election, I kinda get it (but don't say you weren't warned). doing it now though is just a weird attempt to strong arm people into supporting him in the primary.
I think most (not all) of the "I will never vote for Gavin Newsom" people are communists who are mad that Americans don't like communism and want to destroy the Democratic party out of revenge. They don't care how many elections Republicans win or how many trans people die as long as the Dems fall.
February 15, 2026 at 9:50 PM
Something to consider. No one who would refuse to vote for a candidate who supports trans rights was gonna vote dem anyway. Meanwhile, an army of people would be energized by that support and do anything to help that candidate.
February 16, 2026 at 1:57 PM
Really, I just want to ignore the whole Newsom thing because it’s way too early and fuck this guy, but they keep dragging him into the conversation. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a candidate so primed and ready to fail to meet the moment in my life.
We already said we won't vote for him!

One former Pelosi aide had the balls to say she’s hardly ever wrong. That should be a headline all by itself…

This is happening because OpenAI - a company that does not have anything even approaching a viable business model and is setting money on fire - used borrowed money to advance buy all of the raw materials for RAM production so competitors couldn’t get it
this RAM crisis feels like it’s going to ruin consumer electronics over the next decade. Bloomberg reports that Sony is considering pushing the PS6 release to 2028 or even 2029 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Not necessarily quibbling or arguing with Jessica here, but: I think we need to reckon with what it means when a story like this is “good”

Because I think we can’t use that word in the same way that we do when we’re evaluating writing done by an actual human being making human choices
