Best advice I never took was when I was 30 and on a massive career fast-track: You cannot cuddle with your career on a lonely night when your life is on the decline. Invest as much time on love and family. Sounded twee then. At 62 and near retirement, I now know it's 100% true.

I struggle to remember how to spell some quite basic words. Solution was to put the word into my work computer password. Six weeks of typing "their"instead of "thier" soon gets it sorted. Don't do it anymore as I've now conkured the English language.

When I was in school, my English teacher did all she could to put me off the subject. I dreaded English classes. yesterday I graduated with a 2:1 in English and creative writing. I’m so proud of myself and so thankful to everyone i’ve met and been taught by over the past 4 years.

WH Smith is being sold for £1.5 billion. The person buying it nipped in for a paper to read on the train and by the time they added a packet of crisps and a coke they thought they’d be as well buy the company for an extra fiver.

My girlfriend is 29 but sometimes she still gets asked for ID in shops. Which is fine but it makes me feel like some sort of pedophile.

In what I can only assume is tremendous news for my girlfriend who has at best, a passing interest in football when Scotland are playing in tournaments. Tomorrow Netflix are showing two NFL games.

I’ve just realised I read the final English novel of my degree in second year. It’s been all Scots since, Irish novels next semester!

The videos of people getting grinches round and the kids screaming in terror as it arrives are not as hilarious as they think. Imagine taking the most wholesome period of the year and paying to add lifelong trauma.
