Its summer 1984, and on virtually every Sunday somewhere along the Brigg Line there was action.

37132 straddles Brigg level crossing with an engineers train, after being involved in work to single the line between Brigg and Wrawby Junction.

The Humber Valentine railtour, leaves Barnetby bound for the Grimsby - Immingham Light Railway on the 14th February 1987.

This railtour had started from Wolverhampton, and was routed back via the Brigg Line. Phillip Hewson photo is enlivened by the presence of 45115 and 47336.

Would have happened in the late 1950s if the idea of extending the Woodhead Route electrification over @greatcentralrailwy.bsky.social main line to Marylebone had been implemented. Instead Marylebone is the only diesel only London terminus.
Govt scraps all electrification investment. Midland Main Line to stay forever diesel Leicester Nottingham Derby Sheffield. Hugely embarrassing and inexplicable

Last pictures of the original GCR footbridge at Brigg, taken 10 years ago, this was replaced soon after by a new controversial Network Rail footbridge, built without ramps for a retirement town that can hardly use it.

John Quick the President of the Great Central Railway Society was on that train. It joined the main line at Bulwell Common and went on to Marylebone. He showed us his cine footage some years ago but its been published on a Marsden Rail video since.
These groups of excited onlookers are catching a glimpse of the world famous 'Flying Scotsman' as it passed by Shirebrook North Station Signal Box on the 18th April 1964.

Marylebone which had three train sheds whenever I visited it. The decision to demolish one of them has cost people a lot of shoe leather because the station needed six platforms after all. @greatcentralrailwy.bsky.social

I remember a guided tour visiting the electro pneumatic signal box at Elsecar Junction - an early piece of computing by @greatcentralrailwy.bsky.social signalling engineer Alf Bound.
It was supposed to rain the other day when we visited the lovely Elsecar Heritage Centre near Barnsley. It was supposed to be bleak and stormy and grey and depressing. But the sun shone like it was on a seasonal farewell tour and lit up the colours that surround us.

150134 arrives at Brigg on the 21st November 1991 with a Sheffield Midland service.

The line had a 6 day a week service at this point.

Those with an eagle eye will notice tannoy speakers underneath the footbridge, announcements were made by the signaller.
