I gave up on toxic X (then twitter) 3 years ago. The only blue bird I've engaged with since was this fledged blue tit last spring. I placed it safely away from cats and its parent soon came to feed it. Every living thing needs a safe place right?

A class 710 Overground train that I brought in to Barking Riverside. The changeable weather and empty platform suited the choice of black and white for this phone shot.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025... The new refrain is "free speech" when in fact it's hate speech. They are looking across the pond for enablement and alarmingly it has some traction. We need a more radical alternative. Labour has been too equivocal. Where are we as a society? Years backwards

www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d... Just weeks after COP29 the stark reality is that developed nations owe a huge debt of aid and finance. That however is nothing to what we need to do to help stop climate change. We need to consider how our lifestyles are propped up by the misery of others and act.

Dense juvenile trees in Epping Forest. With leaf fall comes an awareness of the depth of the place. A feeling of enclosure but distance all at once. It's easier to spot the wild deer which we did a few times today.

Industrial farming is choking our planet . Yet at a time when we should be supporting farmers to invest in restoring nature and transitioning away from destructive animal ag , the news that government have slashed wildlife-friendly budgets even further is just plain insanity .

Another one taken from the rear cab of a moving train on my phone camera as we crossed a bridge. There had been rain and the road markings gleamed. On an otherwise empty street the couple just happened to be walking through a pool of light.

My training driving career just has a few short months left. I won't miss the crazy early starts but the views I've sometimes had from the cab have been extraordinary. Alas, I can't take photo's from there but I get to travel rear cab home sometimes and my unwind times have been special.

Having worked hard to make our inner city garden attractive to wildlife, more recently some 'non-native' species have arrived (grey squirrels and parakeets). We've a soft spot for this one though as she's super friendly and has an ear that looks like Halkidiki when she's upside-down!
