Guardian interviewer/features writer, with a thing for prison and miscarriages of justice (well not a thing for them as such, a thing for writing about them). Proud Mancunian/Salfordian. City fan of some vintage
Jeremy Bamber, The New Yorker and the mystery of
the dead cop who may have cleared his name. (By me)

brilliant. been playing it a lot recently. that man @xanbrooks.bsky.social had educated me in cultural shiz over the decades
40 years old this week. One of those rare life-changing albums when I first heard it at 16; the whole wild world kicking in the front door. ‘We sail tonight for Singapore …’

about his daughter Milly and Lyme Disease. It's important and impacts so many more people than most of us realise. Get well soon Milly ♥️

As my daughter got sicker and sicker, our quest for answers dragged on. How did we all miss the bacteria taking over her body?
I write about nature, but when Milly got sick with a mystery illness, it never occurred to me that a long-forgotten tick bite could be the cause

Me and @lucybrisbane.bsky.social on the great much missed Eric Allison ❤️❤️❤️
Eric Allison, the late great @theguardian.com prison correspondent, went from career criminal to journalist.

His work, often alongside @shattenstone.bsky.social, made a huge impact on so many issues.

I've (ghost) written this attempt to sum up just some of them here ⬇️

From career criminal to change-making journalist
Eric Allison had a different perspective on prisons. After all, he'd been in and out of them for forty years
