Sh*t's goin' down in Boston, and the Devil deals the cards.

In the pocket of Big Dame.

I'm telling myself this is the bit where it looks as if all is lost but the heroes persevere.
Ditto a bunch of religions, alas.
Yes. This is it. Some people believe their politics; other people adopt politics as an excuse to hurt other people for fun and tell themselves it’s for a good cause and they can’t be blamed.

The internet has let all the people in the latter group find each other and make better rationalizations.
I often think the real ideological divide online is not really ideology by whether politics exists as a permission structure for behaviour or not

And those Cracked articles about "Five Heroes who were Actually the Villains!" or "Ten 'Utopias' where Life would Actually Suck!"
The worst thing about millennials is how The AV Club and tvtropes convincing a generation of creatives the worst thing you can do with something is play it straight
A lot of media these days has what I call the "dragon problem". It's actually fairly unusual to just see art of a normal dragon, everybody's too convinced that they have to show their take on a dragon that it's much easier to find a dragon somebody was doing a "take" on than just, like, a dragon.

I think it's OK to mention how many of the people who work for & support Trmp resemble Dick Tracy villains, allegorical representations of vice in Goya paintings, & factory seconds from the Evil Stepsister Doll assembly line because they are white supremacists & they're not very supreme, are they?

I love the idea of those wish bracelets where you make a wish as you tie them around your wrist & when the thread breaks you get your wish, but I feel that in order for it to work I'd have to purchase one from a patchouli-smelling young woman with cool tats at a craft fair instead of Online.

Iron deficiency is my body's Ronald Reagan, in that every time I look up a weird symptom it is traceable to that.

I do not want advice unless you have a spell for getting doctors to take you seriously!

I also do not want anyone going "Oh, my friend thought she had that but she had Blood Scorpions"

The Elizabeth Bru-n-gs & Leah L-br-sco S-rg-ants are, like, some people will die of measles or diseases that could have been prevented with mRNA vaccines, but on the other hand some people are dying because they couldn't get an abortion, so who can say if this is good or not?

Weaklings: Voting pales in comparison to my plan: firebombing a potential ICE facility! *fail to firebomb a potential ICE facility*

This hero: I've already voted. Now hold my purse.
KMBC: "A woman tried to set a fire at a South Kansas City warehouse that had been rumored as a possible ICE detention center. Earlier today, the company that owns the property confirmed it is no longer moving forward with a sale to the U.S. government."

The thing about homeownership is maybe a 60-70-year period in which you could earn enough at your job to save up & purchase property while having a dog-level understanding of how the world works (want treat, bark at stranger, obey Master, make mess) was the fluke & we're reverting to normality.

Why am I thinking of that H. P. Lovecraft story where the narrator goes to his ancestral home & discovers there was a cannibal cult there & it takes over his mind & the last page of his account goes from English to Middle English to Latin to Gaelic to gibberish?
We all know about the Claude spiritual bliss attractor state. But what happens when you let Grok talk to itself for a long time? Answer:

Again, if we were the evil empire, why were we the ones paying for all the lifesaving medical research? You people are always making fun of us for paying big healthcare bills- can none of your nations that Do It Better pony up the jack for MRNA vaccines & carry the ball & be a hero?

It's like a guy making a joke about having sex with you.
I kinda wonder, given everything else we know about Hasan, if his "shoot you in the head" comment is projection on his part.
Oh boy, did Hasan just fly into an anti-Democrat rage after being criticized by two trans people? You'd think he'd be more mature than this, but...

Good news:

1. You can cook red lentils in the rice cooker! I added the last drops of wine & the remnant of the boursin that was too dry to be fun to eat & those were *smooth*.

2. Other people onhere are speculating about Dooku being Obi-Wan's father (& Anakin being a little accident of Qui-Gon's.)

I lit a candle in hopes it would warm the room up a bit because I don't want to turn the heat on &...I have become the old joke about what skinflints Yankees are.

(What do New Englanders do when it gets cold?
Sit around a candle.
What do New Englanders do when it gets *really* cold?
Light it.)

Large bowl of vitamin-enriched cereal with some skim milk: an underrated shot in the locker of "whoops, it's nearly three in the afternoon & I haven't eaten anything but I can't bear to make crumbs or get utensils or pans dirty & then have to clean more stuff up".

There was a detective series I really liked (I pre-ordered each new book, I gave copies as presents) & the author started a new series about the sister of one of the sleuths, & in the afterword she said there was no good side or evil side in WWII & I don't want to read another word the author wrote.
