Sh*t's goin' down in Boston, and the Devil deals the cards.

In the pocket of Big Dame.

Wo aber Gefahr ist, wächst das Rettende auch.
One save; a modern-day Undine Spragg is out there trying to figure out who my nephews are so she can vamp them.

Sorry, babe, they all have girlfriends already!

You'd think a job where you write a Substack from the comfort of your own home would be great but to go by the people who do it it's about as good for your cognitive function as unmedicated syphilis.

The one thing I can say for having to get up in the dark to slog through my commute to my job where I answer the same questions over & over & eat a microwaved packed lunch at a formica table is that there is some secret sauce about having a job that stops you from going off the deep end.

My Mom tried too & we just have cloud cover!

Great stars elsewhere in the sky, though. Orion clear as a bell.

I tried again & just can't see it.

She wanted to watch this for Veterans' Day, which is great, but she couldn't remember the name of it or who the actors were or where it was streaming & she doesn't bother to remember in between asking me because she can always just ask me again. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Forei...

My Dad was either the Best Turned-Out Man at the 1980s Important Business Lunch or a symphony of paint stains, frayed cuffs, bleach spots, worn-out collars, perished elastics, small burned spots, moth holes, etc.

Sometimes he'd wear a button-down & a tweed jacket atop fleece pants to combine the 2

If we had polls on here I would ask something about "how many ineradicable stains/holes/faded bits/frayed areas do you allow your clothes to accumulate before you throw them away" to see if I'm being reasonable.

I'm trying to make a rag rug with the garments I can't get away with wearing any more.

My Gramps's favorite was CLEARLY my auntie; she wasn't the one he set up in business repeatedly or paid for 8 years of undergrad for (because she wasn't a fuckup.)

My Dad was his Mom's favorite but her youngest daughter & son-in-law were the ones she depended on.

(Mom & I are back on our "watch nature & science shows on PBS Passport" malarkey.)

Anyway I know *why* sci-fi show aliens just look like regular homo sapiens people with special foreheads but real hominids on Earth were more diverse than that!

This season is just story after story of rich evil people offering poor decent people the sketchiest-ass deals that have some wicked ulterior motive, & the poor people have to take the deals because they have no money.
