Hey neat, Proton has introduced their version of Google Sheets, so I can finally dump the only file I have left in Google drive! So now, the #Mariners 40 man payroll lives here. Same features, same look. Better place.

I didn't realize Chris Bassitt signed a 1 year, $18.5M deal with the Orioles.

Would have loved that for the Mariners. Would have been a perfect finishing move to this off-season to push Bryce Miller into depth role.

The Mariners' 2024 rotation was very good, and the 2025 rotation was indeed hurt. But I think there's a tendency to exaggerate:

1. How good in 2024
2. How hurt in 2025

It is very rare these days where it seems like something is very underpriced and just $200 a year for having Mariners/all of MLB blackout free* is one of those. I'd probably be willing to pay $300 for that.

Which I suppose is confirmed on this site:

The ESPN free trial bullshit does NOT appear to be necessary to sign up for the mlb.tv and mariners.tv bundle so long as you choose the middle option.

I just did that, and there was zero indication or mention of signing up for any kind of trial.

Discord was never something I had much use for, beyond a few software support things. One of the reasons I'm glad I never got hardcore into multi-player gaming.

Whole lotta "Mariners turn now." comments.

Sorry folks, the Mariners already won the title that they have actual control over.

Normalize not placing importance on a title that just takes luck to win.

Ah man, I totally missed that Erik Dubois retired Arco Linux. I learned so much from his videos and articles over the last decade or so and Arco has been my daily driver for 6ish years. Of course it's easy to transition to pure Arch, but he did a lot for the community.

Enjoy retirement Erik.

This week's Starfleet Academy was far and away the worst episode so far, and possibly the worst Star Trek episode of the last 10 years.

Which is a damn shame, because last week was actually legit good.

Dark pattern bullshit.
MLB TV will remain $150 a season but look at this BS they’re trying to pull. You cannot “buy” MLB TV without buying ESPN Unlimited, but they give you a one month free trial, and then the hope is you forget to cancel since you don’t need ESPN to have MLB TV, only to initially purchase.

Have to wonder if the Mariners being able to land De La Rosa made them more comfortable with the idea of trading the draft pick than they maybe were a couple weeks ago?
February 3, 2026 at 1:35 AM
The comp B draft pick that the Mariners gave up in this trade, probably pushes it slightly into the bad value territory.

But I'm fine with that. Just like the Luis Castillo trade was bad value. The team needs to be taking risks by making bad value trades to make the MLB club better.

So basically now it's Colt Emerson vs Cole Young to see who can steal plate appearances from Donovan/the rest of the bench.

My money is on Colt, but I think Cole is being underlooked here.

Alright first initial thought? Big thumbs up on this trade. The switch pitcher experience was looking like a failure, Ben Williamson can't hit, and ok losing Tai Peete sucks, but that's the price they gotta pay.

Go get another reliever and call it an offseason.

With the acquisition of Brendan Donovan, which includes the removal of Ben Williamson, the #Mariners 40 man payroll stands at $160,814,500.

I've been saying this for a while now, but I very much want all my tv shows to look MUCH worse, so that way we can get more episodes per season, leading to actual characters and full stories.

TV does NOT need to look like movies. Looking at you, Star Trek.
The Pitt got greenlit for a season 3, out next February, and the announcement has very funny comment from HBO chairman Casey Bloys that’s like “yeah, turns out if you just make a TV show like how we used to make TV shows you can have a 15+ episode season every year 🤷‍♂️”
