Ok we’re all having a collective freakout about Catherine O’Hara, at least I’m not alone

Welcome to Chicago, hope you like walking approximately a mile and a half through a progression of liminal spaces to get to the train

Tl;dr2: The platform must be <institutional reform>. All the policies people want follow from that, not the other way around:
- DC/PR/USVI statehood
- Enlarging the House
- MMDs
- New VRA
- Totally revamping SCOTUS: bsky.app/profile/mcop...
- Automatic universal voter registration
- Rewriting the "national emergency" laws: bsky.app/profile/mcop...
- Subordinating the Senate: bsky.app/profile/mcop...
Etc.
👇🎯💯

Again, the needs to be & all the committees & commissions that want to Do A Popularism & focus on Kitchen Table Issues are engaged in a category mistake about What Democrats Must Do the next time they ever have power.

One of my burning Heated Rivalry questions is how many of you actually listened to Wolf Parade before the show made the (incredibly inspired) choice to feature the song “I’ll Believe in Anything”?? I refuse to believe it was more than like 10 people!!!

Reading today’s news, I am thinking of Taiwan. I visited this past April and it is such a wonderful country. I fear deeply the ramifications that our actions in Venezuela may cause to this nascent democracy, however indirectly, and what China may feel justified in doing based on what we’re doing
Far from being a simple surgical strike, this action to remove Maduro will reverberate in unexpected and significant ways.

It undermines our defense of sovereignty, reducing our authority regarding actions China might take against Taiwan or Putin against Ukraine.

The good news about being a new parent is that I get to take some incredible naps. The bad news is that’s because I’m exhausted most of the rest of the time

Here’s my version. Some of these are based on cursory visits. I’d rather die than live in Texas or Florida, these places have awful weather and are highway-consumed urban hellscapes

Parenting help request: it would be nice to have a silly audiobook to listen to that I don’t have to pay close attention to while I do things like feeds and cuddles. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m thinking something like a good celebrity memoir…

Parenting is just as crazy as I expected. But only just as crazy- not more crazy! It’s also better than I expected in many ways. Doing something right and seeing his cute little face relax hits like a drug

Now that I have told all of my friends, I can post to say that I am officially a dad. Our son was born on Christmas Eve. I will not be posting pics of him (though he is very cute so that might be a hard promise to keep). In lieu of congratulations, please send dad jokes. I need to up my game
