I picked the X220 because of the keyboard. It's a thing of beauty and 220 is the last model to have one. The machine is an i7 with 8 gigs of ram and Cinnamon pre-installed but it is 14 years old so there are limits. I'm re-learning the Godot game engine on it - and it does great for that.

I’m doing the same, and Mint is my current fave. If I have any advice as a noob myself, I’d keep a ‘lite’ copy of your distro on the machine so you can boot into it if you fuck-up really badly and break it.

I remember cursing over the 2 hours it took me to download the 18mb update on dial-up before I could play. But, oh boy - was the wait worth it. :)
