Intersectional femmo, mum, writer, community worker, opinion-haver, grumpy old queer still dealing with being an “elder”. Usually has a Side-Eye Chloe face when interacting with the world. An actual human person, probably. She/they.
I’m one of those people who is not pro outdoor cats, but if the Cat Distribution System wants to send someone around for a visit, I’m open to it.

A reminder! Conspiracy theories are extremely influential and regularly drive actual government policy! Take them seriously!
Ministers prioritised driving in England partly due to conspiracy theories
Exclusive: Documents show shift in transport policy influenced by unfounded fears about loss of freedom of movement in ‘15-minute cities’

Me writing a personal statement that is up to 300 words and also fewer than 900 characters:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
So I finally got this done. The best part was when the personal statement could be up to 300 words, but when I copied and pasted my painstaking response it was rejected because it could also had to be fewer than 900 characters.
Bit rude that this scholarship application requires a personal statement beyond “munny. Give it me pls”.

This is such a thoughtful, kind post in response to a very hurtful action.

Chuck does a great job explaining why his pink mask is necessary.

I would add that people shouldn’t have to EXPLAIN to you why they do things that you don’t see as “normal” when those things aren’t hurting anyone.
just when you buckaroos thought 2024 would be a break from book drama, here comes chuck tingle in the mix. recently i was asked to be a featured speaker for the TEXAS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION conference. a few days ago they rescinded my invitation. here is what happened.

2023: haha everyone loves the pervy green owl that shakes its ass in public and shames you into learning languages

2024: we regret to inform you that the owl commits labor crimes

My work colleagues are mourning a former colleague of theirs who recently passed away due to complications from weight loss surgery.

The cultural ubiquity of same seems to have written it as good, useful and risk-free. No major surgery is risk free, and WLS also frequently fails at its goal.

The problem with the Willy Wonka prequel is the same problem with the Star Wars prequels: neither Willy Wonka nor Anakin Skywalker is interesting until they start killing children.

Fairly certain that, despite it being an intimate collection of immediate and chosen family, tomorrow we’re hosting the queerest and most neurospicy Christmas lunch in this town, at least by volume.

Things I appreciate about my job: client visit today involved driving through a temperate rainforest. I desperately wanted to pull over and take photos, but was driving on roads that were 1.5 cars wide with tiny verges on the side of a mountain.

Worth noting that the 'crisis' of kids socially transitioning at school without notifying their parents was almost entirely seeded by a NYT article. Even in conservative states, this was nowhere on the legislative agenda a year ago and now it's everywhere.

Punchline of an actual conversation I had with the small person tonight:
Me:…so you see, if you don’t swallow coins you won’t have to go to hospital. It’s very simple.
SP: YOU’RE very simple!

I worked in public libraries for 20 years and so much of my job was a) helping people with Centrelink & b) dealing with people who’d been dealing with Centrelink all day.
I made many cups of tea and held many hands of crying strangers.
Online-only services massively disadvantage the most vulnerable.
A perfect example of this is our welfare system requires people to do stuff on the internet and the people who don't have access to a device or the internet can walk into an office to be told by a human to use the public computer to do the thing. Even phone calls aren't allowed.
