I really need people who are not experts in a given field to stop misunderstanding pop science articles and then using their misunderstanding to make bizarre religious claims.

Full vid for those who want it. WP too cowardly and bootlicky to show the "titty out" part. www.youtube.com/shorts/sHBb4... (the vid is a month old)

I should not get social anxiety from being an interviewer. That's just not fair.
Ugh, I hate only being able to hire one intern! Why do multiple candidates all have to be pleasant and deserving of the experience!?

Also, today I learned that, up through Windows 10, Microsoft terms of service prohibited using Windows to control a nuclear reactor.

Turns out NRAD is electromechanically incapable of pulsed operation, and the bedrock is too shallow to dig effective shielding pool, so the reactor room gets Spicy when it's operating. So, we must content ourselves with *pictures* of the Cherenkov radiation.
I hope they pulse it for you! Cherenkov radiation is super pretty

Hypobole <- hypo-ballo "to throw under", "to understate"

Parable <- parabole <- para-ballo "to throw alongside", "to compare"

Devil <- diavolo <- diabolo <- dia-ballo "to throw through", "to slander".

Today I Learned that YouTube won't recognize a "short" unless it has a vertical aspect ratio, even if it's only seconds long. But after much searching, I found this ffmpeg command that will letterbox any video into 720x1280 without changing the aspect ratio of the original image:

#booksky, do I know anyone who has read The Mountain in the Sea and would like to talk about it on a podcast? Also, #linguistics, #xenolinguistics, but it would be nice to have non-linguistic viewpoints as well....
