Sometimes you can do everything right and still fail. That's what has happened to my current kidney transplant. After nearly 17 years, it's done. My wait on the transplant list for a new one will be about 5 to 8 years. A living donor would give me the best chance at a longer, healthier life.

This was a rough year. I have not even fully dealt with how heartbreaking it was to lose my kidney transplant after 17 years. I went from feeling healthy in January to feeling the most unhealthy I've ever felt.
