I think what’s most striking about the last few months is how rarely anyone in the GOP applies this simple test. A lot of checks and balances rely on this kind of worrying about precedent but it’s now totally absent, as if they don’t think they’ll ever be out of power again.

It’s really disheartening to see trans users having to step back from Bluesky because of the influx of transphobic harassment. Trans posters built the culture of this platform and it would behoove cis allies to advocate for their safety as Bluesky expands and they get targeted

Tonight is probably one of the worst mental health crisis in the trans community I've ever seen. It's bleak. So many people are in crisis and I'm scared I'm going to wake up tomorrow and have lost friends.

I would argue that even though people voted for Trump because they want to see lower grocery prices and increased economic prosperity, they know that Trump comes with fascism but they don't care because they don't think they would get hurt.
quinta is right. the expectation among the voters that gave trump the win is that he will bring stability and prosperity. given what we know about him, he and the people around him are setting themselves up to hit a brick wall of public discontent
this is so profoundly wrong. everything we know now suggests that people voted for boring, they want economic stability. they will not get that, but pretending that they want violence when they did not vote for it distorts the fact that trump does not have a mandate for violence and chaos

Today I received notice that my federal student loans have been forgiven. The public service loan forgiveness program had been poorly run for so long I had given up hope. Before Biden became president only 7000 people had qualified. Now that figure sits at almost a million people, including me!
