A relative told me that I'm "a better mom to your dogs than your own parents ever were for you." She's not wrong, but I would add my parents were my example of who I didn't want to be. Good parenting--for pets or humans--is a choice. People can choose to equip themselves to parent well, or not.

I've had a small veggie garden for over 10 years, with heat waves that required frequent watering, but none that lasted as long as this year's record. By the time July set in, even the tomatoes were giving up the ghost. But yes, please, assure me that climate change is a "hoax." Uh-huh.

Watching "The Mountainhead" on HBO Max for something like the 5th time. Anyone paying attention will quickly arrive at conclusions as to the real-life characters being played out on screen. You could easily swap one for another at a dozen points along the way, but yeah. It's pretty much dead on.

(long story 🙄) And while I appreciate drive-up/pick-up services offered by so many stores, I just want to walk my own damned self into the store. I hate feeling hampered or limited in any way. Argh.
