Just published my first paper from my PhD project! 🔬

Here, we show that nanoplastics—those tiny, pervasive pollutants—can alter the microbiome of Daphnia, a keystone freshwater organism.

Our new paper by Klara Middendorf together with colleagues from @gfz.bsky.social. We use #GRACE satellite #gravity data to evaluate drought events in climate model simulations.

🌊 Jan–Feb 2025, earthquake swarms shook Santorini. A study by @gfz.bsky.social & @geomarkiel.bsky.social explains why. 🌋 Magma from a reservoir beneath Kolumbo intruded as a ~13 km dike, triggering the quakes. Data reveal a link between Santorini and Kolumbo systems.

Our latest study in Nature, together with colleagues from @geomarkiel.bsky.social and universities from Greece, shows what happened beneath Santorini earlier this year when tens of thousands earthquakes shook the islands and the seafloor. It was magma. We also have 1/2

Beim Tag der offenen Tür der #Bundesregierung kamen gestern >4500 Menschen ans #BMFTR - viele von ihnen waren auch bei uns am Stand unseres #Schülerlabor |s. Wir zeigten Experimente zum Mitmachen, z.B. ließen wir einen #Vulkan -Krater einstürzen, eine Caldera entstand. Heute geht’s bis 17 Uhr weiter
