On this note, I don’t believe the Illinois AG’s listed media contacts are real people and are just mailboxes and phone numbers setup so reporters can say they tried.
Yes, and I’ll add: I think non-journalists would be shocked by how hard it can be to contact government media folks. The people who are paid by tax $ to provide info to the public often make themselves almost invisible. (To say nothing of the stonewall you may run into when you *do* reach them.)
One of the things that has made journalism much harder in the past decade is that more and more organisations list absolutely no contact details for anyone on their websites. I assume this is to block spam, but like, how are we meant to reach people? Bring back paper phonebacks?

I don't think the mayor was elected by people who wanted to let CPD check its own homework.

Possibly the State's Attorney was, but I don't think that's actually true, either.

Every single excuse I have heard for this boils down to the idea that prosecutors, especially now, are just rubber-stamping gun arrests anyway - filing felony charges against people without any real inquiry into whether a stop or search was lawful

OK? It's wild not to be embarrassed about that!

In a time where we're seeing former SA Kim Foxx's policies work and reduce crime and the effects thereafter, this demon decides to course correct to increase crime and police brutality. The most shameful is Brandon Johnson agreeing with this trash. Fucking disgusting.

Outrageous.

All three of them.

Missed this at first but worth noting this stay cites Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo and Trump v. CASA, Inc., two cases that went before SCOTUS earlier this year.

The former deals with immigration enforcement in the LA area, the latter with citizenship and the power of lower federal courts.
New: a 7th Circuit appellate panel has issued a stay on Dustrict Judge Sara Ellis' injunction order, which limits federal immigration agents' use of force in the North Illinois court district.

The panel, consisting of two Trump appointees and a Reagan appointee, found the injunction "overbroad."

An interesting thing here, given the news, is that the secretary of education is the defendant in a suit accusing her of turning a blind eye to the operations of a child molestation ring that, there is no dispute, operated within her business from the 1970s to the 1990s
This is a direct attack on our children & our future.

At a time when we need to be doing more to prepare our kids to compete in the global economy, Trump is going after the agency that strengthens American education. Once again, he's helping our adversaries & competitors.
Trump administration to announce dismantling of much of Education Dept.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March seeking to close the department, but only Congress has the power to do that.

Kidnappings have slowed with CBP’s ramp-down, but rapid response, patrols, whistles, etc. all formed even before Border Patrol arrived.

Expect we’re going to see a return to quick abductions of people they’ve targeted and probably some opportunistically, when people are out during mild weather.
Greg Bovino may have moved on to Charlotte, but federal immigration agents maintain a presence in the Chicago area.

Northwest Side Rapid Response has confirmed agents detained at least one person around 9:45 this morning off Kedzie and Wabansia.
