Many facilities in America are not open to clergy, social workers, or independent witnesses such as journalists. This lack of access is even an issue in homeless housing facilities in Los Angeles. Wrongdoing would decrease if meaningful transparency and advocacy were encouraged.

I look at it this way. If I defied illegal orders from my boss, in civilian life, I also would be putting my livelihood, security and family on the line. But I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

Admirals, Generals, top brass need to step forward and refuse illegal orders. It’s ridiculous to put the burden on those at the bottom of the chain of command. The highest ranks should put their oaths to country and duty to those they lead ahead of illegal orders from a felon and a drunk.
