Irish Kiwi living in Ōtautahi. Nerdy lefty neurodivergent; owns many fountain pens, hammocks, and boxes of craft supplies. Sometimes uses them.

Ordained minister of the Universal Life Church purely for the gender-neutral title of Reverend.
Aotearoa, you're so pretty 😍

Yikes, that gave me a fright when it went off in my hand.

"FIRE & EMERGENCY ALERT: There is a large fire at the Taranaki cycle park. STAY INSIDE, close all windows and doors and wait for further instructions. For your own safety please keep away from this fire area."

Every summer I am an un-sun-safe idiot at least once and today was that day for summer 25-26. The New Plymouth coastal walkway is beautiful but it is very long and very unshaded and I am now somewhat lobsterised on my shoulders and the backs of my knees 🟥

In which I get lucky in New Plymouth and the only guy I care about here obligingly shows me some skin!

I really didn't think of golf as a violent sport. And potentially life-changing injuries? 😱

Dinner, with a mug of tea of course, for the day that's in it 🌧

Not shown: a generous squirt of Heinz Pickle ketchup that I only remembered halfway through.

Looks like the value of my Orana membership has gone down somewhat 😔

I see the pink tax is alive and well at Sea Bands, where women get to pay extra for the privilege of a colour that isn't dark grey and so, I must assume, works better for their gender somehow?

Started my day with a buttered cheese scone fresh from the bakery oven, ended it with a slice of buttered Vogel's fresh from my Kmart toaster. I may be starting 2026 fatter than ideal but dammit I've earned this waistline.

I was highly amused by this gibbon at Orana today who looked like they were about to indulge in a crafty smoke.

Just thinking about that time I dreamed that I was working in marketing for the porn arm of PepsiCo—it was called Pepserotica. I was responsible for ensuring Pepsi product placement in the porn flicks they made 😅

Clear signs of cost-cutting at the Christchurch City Council: the latest "attagirl" gold stars for properly sorting the contents of the recycling bin are actually a dull green. That's not nearly as motivational!

I'm heading north in a couple of weeks but have been holding off on specific destinations, because the long-range weather forecast issued months ago said that late summer would be very wet at the top of the North Island. That has definitely come to pass ☹️

Never before have I cared so much about complete strangers being hijacked by a rogue bus driver.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

I took myself off to Orana Wildlife Park today to see what might be hanging about therein. I've only been there once before (what can I say, the far side of Christchurch is just far enough away to be inconvenient) and it was raining that time, so it was nice to visit again in sunshine today.

I can't imagine what would compel me to even transit through the USA at the moment, let alone plan a visit there. It's an amazingly varied country full of great reasons to visit but currently with much better reasons to steer well clear.

There is a new autistic barbie out, but no one is talking about her mother, undiagnosed computer engineer barbie about to get the surprise of her life when she starts to argue with the evaluator that these are all normal childhood behaviours that she had when she was the same age.
