I think journalists, policymakers and good govt types are struggling to understand DOGE because their mental model is that it is a government reform commission, operating like previous ones. Maybe. But it might be better to start thinking about it as a hostile takeover of the govt by oligarchs.

Ann Telnaes, an editorial cartoonist with The Washington Post since 2008, announced this evening she's quitting the paper after this cartoon was killed. It depicts media and tech billionaires, including WaPo owner Jeff Bezos.

I understand the temptation to say "such-and-such a person has finally gone mask-off".

It feels really gross that young people are very vulnerable to bad advice like “don’t go to college, it’s woke” are also the people who will be the most harmed by not getting a degree, and will therefore keep voting Republican. It’s a grievance machine that lives off eating lives.
i hate to be a monocausal guy but i really think this discussion of masculinity, trade school, the gendering of education etc is beating around the bush. male democrats have seen no sizable drop in their desire to attend college. female republicans have. it’s about politics.
