It’s been 24 hours since I watched Hamnet, and I still haven’t emotionally recovered. A phenomenal piece of filmmaking that deserves all of the awards it’s winning, Chloé Zhao is a genius, and Jessie Buckley provides one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. boxd.it/cA432d
A ★★★★★ review of Hamnet (2025)
Hamnet is a history drama following Agnes and William Shakespeare who, after losing their son Hamnet to plague, grapple with grief in 16th-century England. A healer, Agnes must find strength to care f...

This is something I’d never usually post on any of my main feeds, but I’m actually feeling pretty body confident after my recent gym sessions, so I’m making use of this confidence and posting yesterday’s gym mirror selfie in my boxers!

Another franchise I’ve started a rewatch for is Star Wars, starting with The Phantom Menace, a film I could never hate despite how flawed, dated and badly written it is. It’s just so much nostalgic fun, and the podracing and lightsabre duel sequels are incredible! boxd.it/cvCTTh
A ★★★½ review of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999)
I could never hate this film; it’s so flawed and incredibly dated, Jar Jar never gets any less obnoxious and suffers from the usual awful George Lucas writing, but there’s just so much else to enjoy h...

Started a big Marvel rewatch/first-time watch for some of the TV shows on Thursday in chronological timeline order as part of the buildup for Avengers: Doomsday, and Eyes of Wakanda was a lot better than a lot of reviews would have you believe! boxd.it/cwlf8l a fun time with great animation!
A ★★★★ review of Eyes of Wakanda (2025)

Yesterday, I watched both Mary Poppins (boxd.it/cfngRx) and La La Land (boxd.it/cfJEzV) for the first time, and I’m so mad at myself for not watching them both sooner! Two immediate new favourites and two films that have put me in the mood to watch more musicals!
A ★★★★★ review of Mary Poppins (1964)
Mary Poppins is a musical set during turn of the century London, when a magical nanny employs music and adventure to help two neglected children become closer to their father. A film I should’ve watch...

I love high camp, over-the-top 90s action films and I love “alternative” Christmas films so I don’t know why I didn’t watch The Long Kiss Goodnight before last night. I LOVED this silly and incredibly cunty film and I will absolutely revisit it on a yearly basis. boxd.it/ca02Bp

I loved Sunset Boulevard when I first watched it but rewatching it on the big screen yesterday just made me appreciate even more. Such a beautiful looking yet ridiculously sad and tragic film that understandably played a big part in influencing so many other masterpieces. boxd.it/c9E2Fd

The Tarnished Angels is great for various reasons, but let’s be honest here, the one reason you should watch this film is very specifically for THAT cunty parachute scene with Dorothy Malone. boxd.it/c8vcjT

I haven’t stopped thinking about Last Christmas since watching it for the first time last night. I’m still undecided on whether I admire or am horrified by the absolute audacity of its twist, but one thing’s for certain, I was very entertained by this hot mess. boxd.it/c4UCbl (it’s a spoiler review)

Wake Up Dead Man is a consistently funny, intriguing and unpredictable murder mystery sequel that further proves that the Knives Out franchise gets better with each film. boxd.it/c2Vo4J sadly, Josh O’Connor and Andrew Scott don’t kiss but I thought it’d be unfair to remove a star for that.

Another banger from the BFI’s Too Much: Melodrma on Film season boxd.it/c24r1R this has worked as a great reminder that I need to watch more Fassbinder films - I am always in the mood to watch films that somehow manage to be just as high camp as they are depressing. Incredible stuff.
