We finally got jobs data from September, and there are some warning signs for the women in the economy. Black women’s unemployment has reached 7.5 percent. Black women’s unemployment is the canary in the coal mine, currently sitting 4 percentage points higher than white men’s unemployment.

Time to make care a national priority. #carecantwait

Investments in care policies, including those that support child care, paid leave, aging and disability care, and good jobs for care workers ensure that the government is responsive to people’s basic needs.

America’s child care crisis isn’t a problem that will go away on its own. Instead of solutions, Trump and Congressional Republicans passed a megabill with child care tax updates too small to fundamentally change how families are experiencing the child care crisis.

Rep @delauro.house.gov & @kirstengillibrand.bsky.social just reintroduced the FAMILY Act!

27% of the workforce has paid family leave from their jobs. The FAMILY Act would address America’s paid leave crisis & benefit working people, families, and businesses.

We’re #ForFAMILY #PaidLeaveForAll. 👏

The newly reintroduced FAMILY Act would, among other things:
✔️Provide workers with up to 12 weeks of income when they take time
✔️Cover workers in all companies, no matter their size
✔️Enable the lowest-paid workers to earn up to 85% of their normal wages

Americans know the way forward: 80% of swing-state voters support paid leave.

Nearly 3/4 of independents and over 2/3 of Republicans agree.

If paid leave is bipartisan to the public, it should be bipartisan in Congress. We must pass paid leave now.
