Senior Designer with LNER. Design nerd. Posts about trains a lot. Harmless with it though. Often sad. This is my personal account. He/Him 🏳️‍🌈
It annoys me that I like some U2 songs.

Hello? Yeah, I'm in this picture and I don't like it, but thanks.

I've gone in early for the annual Happy Valley rewatch. Sometimes you find yourself in a place where only a brutal drama can sort you out and nothing else comes close.

A late entry but there was only ever one #SuperbOwl for me, and that's the one I drew with the White Rose of Yorkshire for Leeds Neville Hill depot, and which was cast and mounted to the side of Class 91 locomotive 91127 "Neville Hill". Suberb. Owl.

Not Capgemini there, my old employer, popping up their logo as the timing sponsor of the Six Nations and distracting me from a pitch load of burly men in snug shorts. I'm doing this all wrong.

Going in on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels for a rainy Saturday afternoon film. You don't need to tell me that it's just a remake, despite Steve Martin and Michael Caine pairing brilliantly it always feels overlooked - and those late 1980s French Riviera vibes are just 👌

It's a bit weird taking a photo of a stranger's dog, but I'm heartbroken to have to report that I had to leave this best good boy at the coffee shop this morning as he wasn't mine x

A little bear figurine carved out of amber some 6,000 years ago 🐻❤️

A hole runs through the bear’s torso suggesting it was threaded on a cord, perhaps worn or carried as a protective charm.

Found in a peat bog near Słupsk, Poland, in 1887.

I'm so proud to be able to share the interiors of our Class 897 trains, and the culmination of a two-year project I was privileged to lead on the interior design of - working with LNER colleagues, stakeholders and industry specialists to set a new standard for inter-city train interior design 🙌
We’re proud to reveal images of our new fleet – ‘Serenza’ 🚆

The 10 state-of-the-art Class 897 trains will be the first new fleet introduced as part of GBR.

I'm sure that the York Dungeon is a lot of fun, but as a graphic designer they'll forever sit low in my estimations for using stars as a decorative device in their branding whilst casually allowing you to believe it's received wall-to-wall five star reviews.

I've setup a new Starter Pack: Transport Writers of Bluesky.

It's looking a bit sparse at the moment, so please suggest your favourite transport journalists, writers and creators to be added, or drop me a DM if you'd like me to add you to the pack 👇

It's two years today since I lost my partner, Simon. Through support from family and friends I've learned to be at peace with his passing, but there was some strange and small comfort in it being so recent that fades with each year. The world keeps turning and you have to try to keep moving with it.

From the architect's renders on display at Darlington station its new concourse will be a great place to sit and look at men's bums.

Early morning meeting at @railwaymuseum.bsky.social yesterday meant being able to spy these slumbering workhorses, just as the sun was starting to filter into the Great Hall 👌

✂️ Yesterday I finally responded to @agakowalska.bsky.social’s challenge to make a collage from a single piece of packaging. I present to you a green (tea) woodpecker, made from a big Yorkshire Tea box. It was fun and I’ll be rooting through our recycling bin for more materials later on ♻️

Feeling conflicted at the thought of finally needing to use my PlayStation 2 network adapter since it's been sealed in its packaging for the last 25 years. If I hadn't developed a yearning to play SSX this weekend then it might as well have been in there forever.

Boxing Day walk along the Shropshire Union Canal (but not that bit) and across Telford's 70ft tall aqueduct over the River Ceiriog at Chirk. The parallel viaduct came with the railways almost 50 years later. Lovely day to feel less guilty about everything I managed to shovel away yesterday.
