Got the measure of exactly what a Starmer Govt would look like not long after he duped his way into the Labour leadership and then went on to wave through multiple war crimes in Gaza. Must admit though, I didn’t have ‘international piracy’ down on my bingo card.

If I’m fortunate enough to live this long, knowing my luck, I’m in a care home with a shed load of similarly aged gammon dickheads who voted for this outcome in their 50s.
I'm afraid there *is* an obvious answer: it can't.

Whether it’s upholding international law or protecting women and girls, of late, the Government have developed a masterful knack of saying one thing and actually doing the exact opposite.
The government minister says she believes in using X "because of freedom of speech". (There are many platforms - 4chan, Stormfront - which it does not use).

The government is being asked to
(i) uphold the law
(ii) undertake a good faith review of its own guidelines for govt communications

Government reaction so far to the ongoing collapse of international rules-based security guarantees and blatant breaches of international law:

Sunday morning ‘We wait and see’

Sunday afternoon: ‘We agree with it but at least the FTSE blah blah blah’

Monday: ‘It’s complicated’.

Got out of bed this morning, whistling zip a dee doo dah, doing star jumps looking forward to January. What else could anyone do after hearing from the PM that the FTSE top 100’s at an all time high?

You can’t be surprised about this Labour Govt’s selective promotion of international law after listening to their weak, mealy-mouthed responses to the Israeli state’s blatant criminality in Gaza these past couple of years.

Darren Jones truly woeful on Times Radio right now. Managing to sound both condescending and craven.

Answering “I’m not a commentator” when asked to comment on the legality of the USA’s actions in Venezuela just comes across terribly. The government would’ve been better just putting no one up.
January 4, 2026 at 10:16 AM
No one’s asking Darren Jones to ‘make judgements on international law’. They’re asking his opinion as a minister on a particular point of international law. His Govt’s been doing exactly that in regard to other world events since they took office. Utterly cringeworthy. #TrevorPhillips

Perhaps now people will stop wishcasting about the US military refusing illegal orders. That's not a thing that happens. The 100% compliance rate with using civilian boats for target practice was a bit of a tell.

What is the point of having an expert on international law as Prime Minister if he is also a craven coward who has only appeasement to offer when the President of the United States threatens Canada and Greenland and openly states he intends to run Venezuela?

Blows my mind that some of the same journalists who see Trump as a want-to-be dictator at home are earnestly discussing the "challenges" for this same man to "bring democracy" to a country it just illegal invaded. Please grow up.

Keir Starmer explicitly backs Trump's attack on Venezuela.

Says he has "long supported" getting rid of Maduro, who is an "illegitimate President" and "we shed no tears about the end of his regime".

Keir Starmer should condemn Trump’s illegal action in Venezuela.

Maduro is a brutal and illegitimate dictator, but unlawful attacks like this make us all less safe.

Trump is giving a green light to the likes of Putin and Xi to attack other countries with impunity.
