Ah hah. Prittlewell Prince Saxon burial (early med c.580) had these whalebone gaming pieces, found in close group so believed to have been hanging in a cloth bag. Also near a wooden gaming board, but 9 rather than your 10. Antler dice thought to indicate a game of chance.

Soudan : face aux massacres massifs, Génération·s appelle à agir Notre communiqué de presse. Soudan : face aux massacres massifs, Génération·s appelle à agir Alors que la ville d’El-Fasher et d’autres localités du Darfour subissent des massacres perpétrés par les Forces de soutien rapide (FSR), Génération.s exprime sa profonde inquiétude et appelle la communauté internationale à agir sans délai pour protéger les civils et garantir l’accès humanitaire. Depuis avril 2023, le Soudan est ravagé par des combats opposant l’armée régulière des FAS au groupe paramilitaire FSR. Le conflit a déjà causé au moins 150 000 mort·es et 12 millions de déplacé·es. Il est marqué par des exécutions, des violences sexuelles et des destructions de masse qui ont plongé des millions de personnes dans une instabilité et une insécurité extrêmes. Selon les agences humanitaires, des massacres à caractère génocidaire sont perpétrés par les FSR contre plusieurs groupes ethniques du Darfour depuis le début du conflit, et les FAS sont elles aussi accusées de crimes de guerre. Devant cette tragédie humaine, l’immobilisme et le silence de la communauté internationale sont insupportables. Depuis des décennies, la région du Darfour, riche en pétrole, en or et autres minerais, est au cœur de multiples guerres successives. Les identités communautaires de la région sont instrumentalisées à des fins militaires, économiques et politiques, au gré des intérêts des bélligérants et des puissances étrangères qui les soutiennent. Aujourd’hui, les Emirats Arabes Unis fournissent un appui déterminant aux FSR en échange du pourvoi d’or et de mercenaires, tandis que les FAS sont soutenues par un réseau d’alliances régionales et internationales (Égypte, Qatar, Turquie, Russie, Iran, Arabie saoudite, Érythrée…). Top right: small almost complete figurine of an amber bear seen in profile facing right. The lower legs are incomplete. The ears, muzzle and mouth are defined. Carved from translucent orange amber. Washed up on a beach at Fanø, Denmark. Bottom left: small figurine in the shape of a bear(?) carved from dark orange amber. It is known asvthe Resen Bear. There is fine incised geometric ornamentation on the body. Found in a bog at Resen, Denmark. Bottom left: bright orange amber animal head shown in profile facing left. Found in 1952 at Egemarke in Denmark, it is known as the Egemarke Elk. It is decorated with incised bands of closely aligned parallel zig-zag lines.
