Grew up between Colorado and California and went to College in New Mexico, saw racism, but yeah I never saw the type I witnessed on that job with that crew out of Oklahoma, luckily that was arguably the worse I had seen being so overt. Was 1995 before everything was recorded.

After cops interviewed him I don't think they looked too hard. That's the first time I saw the overt racism from the south.

Came by the following Monday after the beatdown to pick up some samples and dude was black and blue, just laughed at him. He started threatening me and I told him, I don't work for you, I work for Dillards and can get your contract cancelled so best STFU, maybe quit being an racist asshole

Sp&cs and wetbacks all the time. Asked the black guy why he put up with it, he said you just get used to it and get your pay check, the local flatwork sub who had heavy Hispanic crew waited until last day they were needed on the job and then at the end of the day beat the shit out of him

It is a trip, I also remember years ago working on my first large construction site for a new Mall in Denver, GC building the Dillards was out of Oklahoma, site Superintendent was an amazingly racist POS, calling his black worker the N-word all the time, calling one of the main subcontractor crews

Hope NM State police do a serious investigation, murder has no statute of limitations and if FBI and DOJ was deliberately witholding evidence they can charge those people with obstruction and possibly conspiracy.
