You can learn a hell of a lot about who has the actual power in a society by who’s *feelings* of safety are treated as a higher priority than others actual safety.
this is an embarrassing thing for this guy to say in public but also touches on something that constantly rankles me, which is the vague idea of "feeling unsafe" as a problem that someone else needs to solve for you regardless of whether you are actually unsafe or not

The use of the term “settlers” to describe illegal occupiers is a devious distortion of language itself, evoking a fantasy of rugged pioneers surveying an untamed prairie rather than the reality of fundamentalist bigots pursuing a policy of land theft through ethnic cleansing.
