Digging The Studio on Apple TV a lot.

A comedy that looks cool and shot with style. 📽️ 🎥

I know this is a chalky position and not breaking news but man just rewatched The Martian and what a fun big Hollywood movie 📽️ with a movie star doing movie star things and Ridley doing Ridley things. 🎥

It’s a hard movie not to enjoy.

Every MLB team could put an enormous banner on the concourses with photos of every player, their favorite stadium food, how much it costs, and where to find it in the stadium like the Yomiuri Giants have done. It is a humble suggestion!

Watching Dope Thief on Apple. It’s got Brian Tyree Henry and Pablo Escobar from Narcos in a crime drama directed by Ridley Scott. 📽️

If Chris Ryan isn’t talking about this show on the next episode of The Watch idk what’s going on in the Riner world. 📺

I also like The Gorge too tbh.

New Paul Pope art 🎨 book came in.

I guess if you like comics and comic art and know ball you’re already into Paul Pope.

Hardcover and pretty big book and while flipping through I see a lot of stuff I’m already familiar with but still nice to have collected here. Love his work.

Just a shot 📸 from my last trip ✈️ to Venice. The architecture is so transporting while you navigate around in gondolas.

Italy is always relaxing.

So far the best show I’ve seen on TV this year has been Netflix’s Asura. 🎥

It’s a wonderful period drama directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda who I think qualifies as an auteur. I think most western movie fans will know him for Shoplifters.

Waiting to see if Andor takes the spot later. 📽️

Watching Celtics City doc on HBO/Max 🏀 📽️

Imagine being Bill Russell & hear constantly the best basketball player in the world is on his team - not to mention how lucky he should feel to play w/ him - when there has been no day he walked the earth that Cousy was a better player than him.

I love Spike Lee and damn that commercial is branded on me 📽️

Advertising works, probably why I buy I like 30 pairs of shoes a month like opened 10% of them over the last decade 🤣. 👟

I’m cool w/ Bay & think it would be a very fun series (I think some people have it in their heads that the better the filmography/“quality” the better the series and I just don’t think that’s the case. 📽️

That said.

Voted Spike tho because it’s gotta be the shoes! The shoes? It’s the shoes! 👟

If anybody wants to watch another Adrien Brody starring film with an Oscar worthy performance they should check out Predators.

Larry Fishburne goes ham on a historic level in cinema 📽️

That movie kind of rules too tbh.

People should be watching Paradise on Hulu. It feel like it’s under talked about as it seems like a show that would normally get buzz considering who is behind it and the quality of the cast.

It’s not the best thing on TV (yet) but it’s intriguing af. 📺

I’ve never been more old than listening to the Ringer Football 🏈 pod & the hosts are talking how ancient Tecmo Bowl 👾 must be for being on X-Box or PlayStation & as they discover what an OG Nintendo looks like live on air from the combine. 🎮

At least I’m about to go to bed in Hawaii. Old af.

Just rewatched Collateral.

Why is it a way better watch than every nominee for best picture this year😂 (I think my fave is Nickel Boys).

Jamie Foxx and Cruise are soo good, Ruffalo is cooking, Jada bookends it. So stylish & absurd but still felt based in a real place. That Michael Mann 📽️

Oh, man, not Gene Hackman.

2025 can just fuck right off.

Okay. Let me tell you a little bit about Gene Hackman...
February 27, 2025 at 8:46 AM
Gene Hackman was one of them ones and the news of his death is both sad andof bewildering (his wife & dog too?).

In art these kind of things don’t matter but for many years now when I see him on screen I think is he like the best to do this?

I’m finding what I loved about Locke Lamora still is holding and what I didn’t totally vibe with still gives me issues but still so delightful, fun and breezy and even after all these years the book’s pacing feels contemporary. 💙📚

Scott Lynch fantasy = still pretty cool.

Finished up reread of Assassin’s Apprentice 💙📚.

Starting a reread of The Lies of Locke Lamora.

Read it when 1st came out, loved the swashbuckle pacing. Thought this would be a TV show by now because what Scott Lynch was doing felt modern capery in what was still a traditional backdrop.
