This is so wrong-headed. You could not pay me to take a drug that was not tested in animals, and animal models remain absolutely essential for discovery research www.statnews.com/2025/05/19/a...

So incredibly happy that Ray Keller was elected to the AAAS! He's a pioneer of the cell biology of morphogenesis and of embryo mechanics, and a hero of mine. So grateful for his outstanding work. Even more grateful that he always took me seriously congrats Ray!!!

So stoked to have a small part in this awesome paper @nature.com on human spina bifida with Jiny Ha, Sangwoo Kim, Joe Gleeson and others. Chanjae Lee did ALL the heavy lifting for the in vivo validations in my lab. this great work was ONLY possible thanks to the NIH!

Do you work with reprogrammed cells? Then look at our new paper!

We asked: How well do reprogrammed cells differentiate into complete&functional tissues?

We found that
- some cell types form perfectly but others fail
- reducing levels of one specific TF of the previous lineage can fix problems⬇️
Differentiation success of reprogrammed cells is heterogeneous in vivo and modulated by somatic cell identity memory
This study investigates how reprogramming success in vivo varies across cell types, revealing that gene expression of the previous somatic cell identity hinders proper differentiation. By following si...
