Imagine watching UHF as a teen and vibing along with it, thinking that maybe one day you’ll also be sticking it to greedy business men, only to become one many years later ☹️

This almost feels like a coda of a Herzog movie, all it needs is a dancing chicken 😝

Hard to believe this came out 25 years ago, feels more modern than contemporary cinema. Today we get hollowed out imitations stripped of all the humanity that have none of the emotional sincerity or interest in the characters, which are observed condescendingly from above under the guise of empathy.

The line up is so good!! It’s going to take a lot of willpower to resist booking a flight to Marrakech (incidentally, I have time off for US Thanksgiving).

Philippe Lesage’s Who By Fire is to Québec in the same way that Michael Roemer’s films are to New England: the location is a character in it self. Loved the ensemble cast, Balthazar Lab’s cinematography is gorgeous (shot digitally, with Panavision lenses from the 70s). Watched on Apple TV.

I recently discovered this track and I’m head over heals in love with it!! I had no idea that Chicago had a jazz/funk phase.

In memory of Terence Stamp, I’m sharing this fascinating documentary where I learned that he and Francis Bacon were lovers and that their relationship had a great influence on the art direction of Pasolini’s Teorema.

More scientific inquiry needs to be done about bullshit. There is so much of it being produced every day that the sheer mass of it transcends the metaphysical into the tangible, kind of like a hygroelectric charge. Maybe it too can be harnessed — into manure, for example & sold to farmers.

A Palestinian activist who helped film the "No Other Land" documentary, Awdah Hathaleen, was shot and killed by an Israeli settler on Monday. Locals identified the killer as Yinon Levi, who was sanctioned by the U.S. and the EU for “regularly leading groups of violent extremists” in the West Bank.

Yes my superhero screenplay has a bit of product placement but it's not fair to say it "sold out"

Some people might find this blasphemous but The Age of Innocence is a much better adaption of Edith Wharton’s writing than The House of Mirth. It’s also a superior film on a technical level; the latter looks like it was made for television.

Yeah, Bergman was nuts but contemporary filmmakers covertly peddling right wing propaganda are much more concerning and should be called out by the media instead of a crazy old man whose been dead for 20 years.

It says a lot about the severity of the moral rot of our society when publications like this one lament people’s indifference to Nazism in 1940s France one minute and in the next they promote films made to distract the public from the emergence of fascist regimes in our world today.

In the grand scheme of things, it’s clear that supporting Israel in its genocidal rampage in Palestine or Russia’s ransacking of Ukraine has nothing to do with politics, it’s because there’s money to be made for anyone who turns a blind eye to it.

Yes!! Finally saw it last night and can’t stop thinking about it. Loved it so much.
The Shrouds is peak Cronenberg. You're going to love it or hate it. I loved it, but it probably shouldn't be your first Cronenberg. Maybe start with The Fly or A History of Violence.
