Hmm, Russian / English forensic linguistics in the news again, you say?

Pretty sure the person at the Hyatt coffee place gave me uncut cold brew. Folding space and 90 bpm resting when it’s normally like 55. Ugh.

I love Cyberwarcon. It’s by far my favorite conference. I will say, though, that by the time the lightning rounds are done I’m burned.

On my way finally to Cyberwarcon. We’ve had a firewall P1, I had a flat tire before going on campus to do an exec briefing on observability, cloudflare doofed, and then like half our tenant lost m365 licensing in a group move. Fully expect IRGC to take out the power again tomorrow morning.

WTF. I was in a cabinet agency during “the trip” and it just keeps on coming back. A colleague was cover.

I don’t want to spoil it, but absolutely typical for our football team to lose stupid stuff and then play like today. Their SecOps uses elastic also so we can call it the kibana bowl.

Sometimes I’d like to go back to a time in my life when I didn’t know what the phrase “contract vehicle” meant.

Captain B will not be going out this morning, thank you.

To give you an issue of scale for the SNAP thing in a “red state,” the SC Gov activated the One SC fund which is typically used during natural disasters. It’s privately funded, but was established during the 2015 floods and was lasted activated for Helene.

As a ratf**k operation that social media thing has inverse power. Like people the dude needs to like him are going to like him even more.

Fair number of cyberin' people flying to DCA around Nov 18, myself included.

Not doing Amtrak from SC, it takes 8 hours to DC at best, and not driving, the travel people would freak.

We will see.

The Coen brothers and orthodoxy is interesting and I’ve never heard them talk about it. Hail Caesar has the Kedrov Otche Nash during the credits, Big Lebowski has “Before Thy Cross” in a snippet, and Burn After Reading has the orthodox ex-priest.
There's a funny scene in Hail Caesar where the studio brings in 3 Christian leaders and 1 rabbi to "approve" their film and the orthodox bishop says "I didn't think the chariot scene was believable" to which Eddie Manx says, "what about the religious depiction?" and the bishop just shrugs.

This is from London, but the correct answer on the halal food place question is yes.

Good lord, our co-op just announced 8 gig is available for $140. Crazy for someone living on a dirt road. They just dropped our 1 gig to $79.

This comes into play heavily in IR, also. “Yes, this is bad, but the detection is lying to you. You actually now want to look for blah blah.”
One of the things I think the vibe coding stuff hasn't yet really come to terms with is junior developers and owners often think the key skill for developers is ability to write code, and principal developers know the /actual/ super power that distinguishes principals is their ability to debug.

Child One is home because they’re 16 and we live in the country anyway while Child Two is out going into town with friends. Child One wants a scary movie.

Never played Halo, no context, no impact. Francis Marion thing, had friends in the movie and the comparison is dumb, no impact.

I love Mt Leconte, and we try and stay there every year at the lodge. Whoever has been posting the blog for the past few years or so has the most passive aggressive style, though. "Acorns are falling now, keep an eye out, or you'll break your arm. A leaf can sneak up on you before you know it."

I did an experiment the other day to just see the behavior. I asked about Essence and Personality in the Fourth Way and comparisons with hesychasm. Quickly got to “would you like exercises to help blah blah.”
Scoop: I sent a public record request to the FTC for complaints mentioning ChatGPT. I got 200 complaints back, but a couple stood out.

They described experiencing severe delusions, paranoia, and spiritual crises, and they attributed it to ChatGPT:
