What can you do with languages? Open doors to new worlds.
Broker peace or strike deals. Bring stories, science and sport to every corner of the globe. See history through fresh eyes. Turn strangers into friends. Connect, persuade, inspire. The better question? What can’t you do with languages?

Hi, I'm a translator who works for a United Nations agency. As you know, every country needs trained multilinguals & it's impossible to become fluent in a language via ChatGPT. Or DuoLingo. Or Zoom classes. Fluency in a language requires immersion in its grammar & vocabulary, its history & culture.

Schools shd have been working to improve language teaching, not opting out bcos kids found it 'too hard'. I was able to do French, Latin, Ancient Greek & some Italian in state schools 40-odd yrs ago. Sadly, language learning is increasingly the preserve of privileged minority in private schools.
