‘Hanging out with this little fella until the real one comes back from tour.’ Had been the caption on Mushitarô’s post on every single social media, accompanied by a picture of the latest limited edition Nikolai plushie. And Sigma had seethed in jealousy upon seeing it, to a point where it was ridiculous; after all, Mushitarô wasn’t at fault as far as they knew. That, though, didn’t change the fact he owned one of those plushies and Sigma didn’t. ‘Be careful, or I might steal it from you :D’ Had been his reply, and despite not being completely serious, they would be lying if he said the thought wasn’t tempting-- because damn, it was. [a few weeks earlier] Rumors said that, despite getting along fairly well in other regards, Sigma and Fyodor had the most intense rivalry when it came to getting their hands on any exclusive Nikolai merch, to the point of both camaraderie and manners getting forgotten. Those rumors, by the way, were completely true; the only reason they were still just rumors was probably due to how there was no conclusive evidence.  After all, both knew how to hide their metaphorical footsteps very well. Anyway, that day was one of The Days: a new Nikolai plushie had its release scheduled, ready to be sold out in a matter of hours after opening time. And, since trying to pre-order it had ended up in catastrophic failure, Sigma would have to run to snatch one from a store’s shelf. Good thing, the classic way had yet to stop yielding results, so they were confident. Bad thing, Fyodor was in the same predicament as him, which meant the fiercest competitor he ever had was still in the game. (Though it offered some sort of consolation too, knowing both were on the same boat and Fyodor didn’t have the upper hand there.) Thus, both were currently stationed right at the same place’s door, (im)patiently waiting for the doors to open so they could rush and claim such a precious piece for their respective collections-- hopefully surpassing the other as well as other fellow early bird sort of fans. Sadly, though, that ended up not being the case; not even the strongest power of will was enough against a crowd. Having been outrunned, still, stopped neither of them. So, after the initial confusion and struggle to keep balance instead of being thrown to the floor and stepped on, Sigma started running and so did Fyodor. And both were pretty much on the way to throw themselves against the last Nikolai plushie… … when no one other than the real Nikolai appeared in front of them, closer to their objective than they themselves were, and therefore being able to take said last plushie himself instead. At least, Sigma thought as he left with the most smug expression ever (due to both having achieved that, getting to see the look on their faces as he left, and the fact none could stop him), Fyodor was still losing alongside him and Nikolai hadn’t showed any favoritism between the two of them-- not a surprise, either, since it was a well-known fact he would always choose having some laughs. Luckily, Sigma loved him like that, even if those things exasperated them to no end.

Which could also be an advantage in what was coming, as it tended to be in skirmishes with just the Black Lizard. “Protect Naomi, please.” He then said, the intensity of his tone easily giving away how important that was to him. Not like those were news, either, since it was threatening Naomi what they had used back in the day where the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia went close to ripping each other apart for their respective bosses’ sakes. Funny, how much and how fast things had changed. “I will. I swear.” Gin assured him, that time out loud; the topic deserved it.

There was no need to come up with a plan or excuse, though, since next thing they knew… Huntara moved from where she had been standing, speaking to Adora, and approached their table with what could only be described as determination. “Little birdie told me you were staring.” She said, leaning into the table and offering them a small smirk. “So, can I help you with something, misses?”

In a while now I will feel better I will be better Even when peace had been achieved, and the Agency didn’t have to worry anymore about being framed as terrorists, Yosano didn’t get to fully relax until she was back in her apartment at the dorms; taking off her shoes by the door and leaving them out for cleaning, she let out a deep sigh and finally smiled. “Can’t believe my biggest problem now is getting groceries and replacing anything that might’ve gotten spoiled.” “Do you still have pizza, by the way?” Ranpo, who had entered right after her. He was no stranger to making himself at home anywhere, and she had told him he could do it anytime at her place anyway, not to mention how they had gone there together in the first place. “I’m craving pizza and there’s no way you’re in the mood for cooking now anyway, so the perfect arrangement.” “The perfect arrangement indeed.” Because not only was he right, but also now Ranpo had mentioned it, Akiko herself was craving pizza too. “Let me check.” In theory, she remembered having at least a couple. In practice, and with all that had happened, making sure was still a good idea. Thus, and still not bothering to get some slippers or change her broken stockings into something more comfortable, Yosano made her way to the kitchen and opened the fridge. First things first, especially with how hungry both were. “Bingo.” Escaped her throat shortly after, with the pertinent triumphant tone which was received with more than evident glee from Ranpo’s side-- not only she (both of them) still had pizza, but it was still good to heat up and eat.
