I feel like lately people in general have been conflicting "sympathetic" with "understanding a character's motivations" because yes, one can lead to the other, but the intent matters. When Kil'jaeden confesses his hunt for the Draenei came from envy, I didn't feel sympathy, but I felt understanding.

A really excellent, detailed review, that's more explicit about just how much stuff *hasn't* made it into this remake - including the Murder at Cafe Alps sidestory, as well as the sidestory where Kiryu emphasises with a transwoman's struggles
