One additional thing - you can't for some reason talk cross faction in the neighborhood, even if you're in a charter/guild neighborhood and share a guild. This is frankly just weird behavior and should probably be changed to just let you cross faction speak (and addon comms) for all neighborhoods

some of my housing feedback thus far (felt it was more urgent since it's an 11.2.7 feature)
Key concerns include: Dyes, Decor purchased with currency, House Chest, Neighborhood traversal
Leaving some of my feedback / concerns on housing specifically, but it’ll be subject to change as time goes on (and may become eventually outdated in newer builds). General Feedback: Dyes probably shouldn’t be solely dedicated to alchemists and scribes - there’s already a ton of focus on crafting professions to provide for housing. I think instead they could be something closer to herbalists (considering it’s the root similarity between alchemy and inscription). Additionally, I think some lumber nodes giving uncommon reagents could additionally be used to create pigments. The amount of dye you craft could probably be adjusted a bit - maybe 5 per craft instead of 1. A special storage (or house chest*?) for dyes maybe could be devised, similar to how decor is stored. There are many, many dyes and the current method of going to the AH or outside the house to obtain a dye and then apply it seems awkward. Lumber nodes only gives 1 lumber per node, which I think is far too low but I think that’s a known issue. There’s some items which require many lumber. In the Neighborhood (particularly for Alliance) many places don’t have a lot of interiors. I think it would be nice to have these be either pre-filled by NPC stuff or optionally allow the neighborhood as a whole (designated managers?) be able to place decor inside these locations. There’s some restaurant areas that have nice outdoor spots, but don’t have any vendor NPCs populated near/inside them. Purchasing - Very possible this is already planned (I saw some global strings relating to putting decor in an order cart), but having the Decor Catalog also double as a means to purchase decor would be decent Currency Decor - I’m seriously hoping that currency isn’t a significant factor in the re-purchase of decor. First time unlock I think might be okay for some (as long as it’s pretty moderate-low of a cost), but re-purchasing and having to farm say, 20 argent tokens for a single chair seems far too much. Decor Item Collected Amount - A lot of things should probably come in pairs / groupings, like chair-type items should probably be 2-4 chairs instead of 1 (unless it’s super cheap for each one individually), while a table is probably fine at being 1. Things that would probably be bought in pairs IRL probably should also come in pairs from the decor item, I think? I had a lot of trouble navigating to specific neighborhoods. Some of it is just “alpha is alpha” cross realm being a barrier, but I think it would be nice to be able to search up a specific neighborhood / address and be able to visit it. Right now it’s tied to the functionality of buying a house in a neighborhood, which doesn’t help you if the neighborhood is full. Being able to favorite certain neighborhoods to have at the top of a list would be nice. There’s not really a good method of accessing the cross-faction neighborhoods from the outdoor worldspace, it’s all entirely inside the interface. If the teleport spell is on cooldown it’s pretty inconvenient to get to my own house on the opposite faction. Unsure if I saw if there was any way to set up charter/guild neighborhood permissions for visitors? I had a difficult time inviting a friend over to my house without having to invite them to the guild itself. My guild neighborhood also wouldn’t show up in the search functionality, additionally making this inaccessible. Some other feature request-type stuff: Skybox Customization - Probably not for launch, but it would be interesting to be able to make “windows” out into a skybox, like Caverns of Time does. I think mechanically this could use one of the room connection slots. Lighting Adjustment - I believe currently the ambient lighting inside the house is controlled by the default skybox. When it gets to night time, it’s dark inside as well (which makes sense) but there’s not a lot of settings to adjust the time of day / brightness in general. Having controls over that would be nice. It would potentially conflict with the skybox customization idea though. Speculation on datamining *House Chest - Forgive me if this isn’t what I think it is, but based on datamining global strings, it would appear that there’s going to be a limit to how many items you can collect. HOUSING_CATALOG_STORAGE_LIMIT_TOOLTIP_DETAILS: Some Decor, such as items from the Shop, will not count towards your House Chest limit HOUSING_DECOR_STORAGE_ITEM_CANNOT_DESTROY: This Decor cannot be destroyed and does not count towards your House Chest limit What this sounds like to me is that there will be a limited amount of decor items you can keep in storage. I really hope I’m wrong about that, but that seems like a very weird decision. This will (depending on the limits / implementation) possibly force people to destroy certain decor to make space for other decor items to collect, rather than allowing you to collect a hypothetical of 1 of every item. If this were on an individual decor basis (having a max of 20 stormwind chairs but it won’t count against your overall storage) that might be more acceptable to me. Again, based on datamining, this is not something I saw implemented yet, but it’s definitely one of those sort of restrictions I could see being received very negatively. Nitpicky-stuff The NPC pathing can be a bit odd sometimes combined with the carriages (did the Horde neighborhood have carriages, now that I think of it?). The Dalaran NPC “avoidance pathing” would be neat, but maybe that’s incompatible here. I did notice they get knocked back if they collide, but it does happen pretty often (especially as they stop to look at a player character so their frequency to be hit in the players’ vicinity is increased). I want stairs / railing / platform decor that can be used outside so I can make porch/balcony areas on my house. Many dogs and cats in the alliance neighborhood can’t be pet, and this makes me very sad. :dracthyr_cry_animated: Animals to pet (particularly cats and dogs) aren’t really present in the horde neighborhood I think the NPCs named “Local” could have some randomized names. It’s somewhat awkward having so many NPCs apparently familiar with me and I can never have an idea who they are. Many of the locals wear very similar / basic outfits, the outfits themselves aren’t bad but i see a lot of repeats sometimes (a robinhood-type outfit appearing very frequently for example). Macro / chat command functionality could possibly be implemented for visiting neighborhoods (/cast Teleport To Neighborhood: 123 Neighborhood Name Here). There was no way to drag the ability to teleport to your own spot onto action bars, nor did a macro to /cast work. Wouldn’t surprise me if an addon popped up to right click your micro menu housing button to teleport to your house. I want to fish in the neighborhood and there wasn’t any actual point to fishing in it yet :fish:

So... there will be no new customizations for blood elves/void elves in Midnight. I have a bit of a post/rant to give. So here's a thread of images.
Basically, I think it's an absolute shame that there won't be *any* customizations for blood elves / void elves in Midnight. (1/2)
With much of the news announced, I’ve looked at every source I can and I’ve found zero mention of customization for blood elves or void elves in Midnight. I understand that there’s budget constraints, deadlines, and I know enough to say I don’t know all the inner workings of game dev at a large company with such a fast-paced schedule. One of my hobbies is however datamining (or at least, looking at models / textures, creating model edits in Blender, and so on). So at the risk of sounding entitled, ignorant, wrong, inexperienced, etc. I’m still making this thread. So with all that said… I’ve looked into every bit of news that I can thus far, followed every bit of Midnight information I can, watched every VOD / read every interview, and read the second-hand livetweets and accounts of yet-to-be-posted VODs. Thus far, it seems that there will be no new customization for any existing race outside of Darkspear Troll (apparently inspired by the Amani - and I’m glad they’re doing that and hope they get skin options and beards too), and in fact it seems to be confirmed that there’s no other customization planned currently. [On the right is a quoted tweet by Psybear_tv: No new customisation options planned fro the wider races in Midnight launch. Constant process they want to tackle.] So what we’re basically being told is that the expansion set around Quel’thalas, the expansion that’s based around the Blood Elves, Void Elves, and very likely the High Elves, is not bringing in any customization for either. I find this frankly ridiculous, like they talk about wanting to bring in “a class/spec/race” or whatever “when the time is right”, and I can certainly understand that, but when better is the “right time” than this expansion to do so? I see this said a lot, but it’s not actually always acted upon. It seems almost criminal that the narrative will be about the “elves uniting” and yet nothing will show for that in their customization. The Void Elf and Blood Elf models are the exact same animations and body shapes. There is almost nothing holding back porting over the hairstyles, hair color, and jewelry to each model. This is also at the very bare minimum. Void Elves are one of the only (pre-Dragonflight) races which has gotten no brand new customization since its conception - they’ve only ever had options pulled from the Blood Elves. The actual amount of categories they have is laughably small - consisting of a single column in the UI when most races have at least 2 or 3. This isn’t even hyperbole, nearly every other race has had new, from-zero options. Human & Hair Colors, Dwarf, Night Elf, Gnome, Draenei & Manari, Worgen, Orc, Undead, Tauren, Troll, Blood Elf & Hair Colors, Goblin, Pandaren, LF Draenei, DI Dwarf, Kul Tiran, Nightborne, HM Tauren, Zandalari. Of this list, the ones remaining that don’t have new customizations are Mag’har, Mechagnome, Vulpera, and of course Void Elf. Mag’har have a similar situation where Shadowlands kind of let them pull from normal orc customization. Some listed races are solely hair colors too, so I’m definitely not trying to say these are all of equal standing/value (some like Mag’har have a good handful of categories and pull from some of the newer Orc customizations). Void Elves have gotten every selection thus far from the Blood Elf counterpart. Frankly I’m fine with this happening, I’ve always found it weird that void elves just “forgot” how to have their older hairstyles and such. For the inverse, I can’t really care if Blood Elves got the void elf customization (skin, tentacles, and all) but for people who would probably complain it’s a step too far I think it’d be fine if they just can’t use the tentacle part of the hair / void skins - though I could see an argument made for demon hunter or something considering the new Devourer spec. So that being said - what exactly (from a technical/model POV) does prevent these options from being shared? Could it be the baked-in hair jewelry, the texture UV, vertice model limit, or some kind of other technical limitation? Well, I figure I might explore that. Sorry if this is the more boring section of this post, but I feel the need to objectively and factually approach the parts that I mostly know. So, starting off, the blood elf hair textures use the same exact UVs, with exception to the “tentacle/accessory” part. We can see an example of this here, and can of course confirm that the tentacle being baked into the hairstyle doesn’t matter, as the blood elf hair colors they pull from don’t have this part of the texture: (image displaying the UV of the tentacle overlapping normal blood elf hair texture) So this confirms that at the very least void elves can use all blood elf hair colors - but does it work in the inverse? Well there’s a couple hairstyles (the ones with the tiara and headbands) that don’t actually work, with void elf hair textures, but it’s relatively simple to separate out. (Image displaying where the tiara normally is on the UV map) With separated texture (much like the Void Elf hair tentacles): (Image displaying the tiara working with a Void Elf hair texture) So, hair model UVs have a slight snag, but it’s very easily fixable. Similar applies to a few other hairstyles for both body types, including the hairstyles named (Body 1) Headband, Thick Braids, Circlet, Thin Braids, Beaded (facial hair), (Body 2) Circlet, Tied, Headband, Chonmage, and Tiara. All of these would just need the “hair accessory” parts separated out in the model - which also would allow for the framework later on to have accessory color options. So what about the vertices that make up a model and the limit? Well the value, uint16 (unsigned 16bit integer), is a max limit of 65535. Using the same export tools and software we can count how much the total model vertices are, and also see how much the hairstyles and other accessories would be to see if this goes over the limit. When counting all void elf options: Body 1: Hairstyles: 14978 v. Facial Hair: 716 v. Total Accessories: 15694 v. Total Body: 33954 v. New total (merged): 33954 + 21191(belf1) = 55145 v. Body 2: Hairstyles: 10228 v. Jewelry: 492 v. Total Accessories: 10720 v. Total Body: 28330 v. New total (merged): 28330 + 15391(belf2) = 43721 v. When counting all Blood Elf options: Body 1: Hairstyles: 19793 v. Facial Hair: 1398 v. Total Accessories: 21191 v. Total Body: 39369 v. New total (merged): 39369 + 15694(velf1) = 55063 v.
