Turbulence forecasting will take a big hit. Safety of flight is now directly impacted by DOGE. These weather balloon launches are critical to weather forecasting. But the kids at DOGE don’t care. #aviation #safety
Experts say US weather forecasts will worsen as DOGE cuts balloon launches

The reliance on winds aloft PIREPs are going to increase dramatically.
Because of illegal cuts, the National Weather Service in Albany, NY no longer has the resources to send weather balloons up into the the upper atmosphere, meaning aircraft won't have the information they need to fly safely. Who does this benefit? #NWS #Albany #weather #aviation

As someone who is taking MARTA almost daily now, the system is really good, a lot better than most give it credit for. But the fare machines are usually broken, the gates aren’t much better, and weekend and late frequencies are bad. Fix those and you’ve got a world class system in the South.

SpaceX lost another Starship and is again posing a major and unacceptable safety risk to air traffic in the Caribbean.

The FAA needs to stop this from....ah shit that's right Musk owns the FAA now, or whatever. Cool cool cool.

Happy 100th anniversary to Delta Air Lines! Founded on this day in 1925 as Huff Daland Dusters, Inc., the company grew from a battler of boll weevils to one of the world’s largest airlines. Right now, more than 650 Delta aircraft are in the sky.

Did a day trip to DC yesterday and honestly I get why everyone wants to keep using National, it’s a fantastic airport with great connections to the region. It’s a hard balancing act to keep the airport functioning and allowing high levels of access.

Multiple confirmations now that all passengers/crew on board #DL4819 have survived the crash, though 3 people were brought to local hospitals.

This is a testament to the regulations and safety standards of modern airliners that something like this bad is 100% survivable. bsky.app/profile/rory...

Is this really what we needed right now? How is this improving the NAS in any way? Leaving aside anything about individuals who actually use these, and even the general state of US aviation at the moment, there are bigger NOTAM concerns like issuance frequency and legibility.
The FAA has undone a 2021 change renaming "Notices to Airmen" to "Notices to Air Missions," which was intended to be more inclusive of non-male pilots

Not a bad day for rail transit in the U.S., as MARTA launched its new Stadler CQ-400 railcar fleet, while @valleymetro.org began vehicle testing on its South Central Corridor.
Keep on keeping on, U.S. transit agencies!

Buckling down and working on my latest trip report for placeintime.net today, and it’s honestly probably the most negative report I’ve written to date. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the city in question, just didn’t particularly have a great experience with it either. It’ll be out next Tuesday 🌎✈️🏔️
