I had talent in a previous life.
GIG UPDATE: Chris T-T. The last time I saw Chris was about 8 years ago when he did his last ever show. Obviously you shouldn’t trust a musician but you should definitely celebrate an artist with such a strong song catalogue filled with beauty, anger, wit and wisdom. What a treat that was!

The Guardian is just overflowing with festive spirit and it’s not even December yet.

When I was at uni I had both a B*Witched and a Spice Girls calendar because, yes, I really am that cool. #totp

I’d forgotten just how hyperactive B*Witched’s dance routines were. They were giving off TikTok vibes long before TikTok was a thing. #totp

God love Ash, and god love Charlotte Hatherley, the absolute best Ash era! #totp

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Saffron from Republica was an absolute icon and we do not say this often enough. I mean, I do, but people in general do not. #totp

We failed as a society when we allowed Fastball to happen. #totp

I like this hat, but I do not fifty quid like this hat.

I have bought my first batch of the Christmas heroin.

Sadly I have not made the cut for Hayley Williams’ bachelorette party.
November 14, 2025 at 1:35 PM
Sad times :( But come tomorrow, this will seem so yesterday.
November 14, 2025 at 11:16 AM
Despite multitasking not really being in my wheelhouse, in about half an hour I will be trying to manage getting tickets for both the Hilary Duff and Hayley Williams presales, I’ve already rescheduled a meeting to allow me to fully focus on this most important task. Wish me luck!

GIG UPDATE: Wet Leg. Again. Again! The Royal Albert Hall is a venue which is likely to have a chaise longue backstage, and therefore a perfect venue for the world’s most perfect band. You wanna see them, I know most people do.
November 13, 2025 at 10:56 PM
Tsk! If they think these perfectly reasonable names are unusual then god knows what they’d say about Flum.

GIG UPDATE: Luvcat. Is there a better venue than Koko for Luvcat to put on a little show with her glamorous and epic murder ballads? Unlikely, but she’ll be playing enormodomes soon enough so enjoy the intimacy while you can. Give her an orchestra and she’ll take over the world…

When did the meaning of POV change from “point of view” to “literally anything filmed with a camera”?
November 12, 2025 at 7:50 PM
Had a dream that I was turned into a vampire, and naturally my first action as a member of the undead was to jump on a night bus and try to get a date. I was not successful.

The Hilary Duff and Hayley William presales both start at exactly the same time on Friday. This is not going to go well for me.

OMFG!
November 10, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Because I know who I am - i.e. basic - after the interview I treated myself to a trip round Primark. The design of their Stranger Things section is exactly as impressive as the actual range isn’t. Upside Down body butter, anyone?
November 10, 2025 at 12:35 PM
Technically I’m off work today, but I have to interview someone this morning so need to make sure I look vaguely presentable. They had better be a good candidate to make it worth the effort…

Feels a bit redundant saying this as, given how obviously true the statement is, it’s a bit like excitedly pointing out that the sky is blue, but the new Hatchie album is all kinds of amazing, isn’t it?

Presumably the relevant URLs end with dot cum.

Well, this isn’t ideal, but on the bright side, at least there’s now an opportunity for Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman to stay at the BBC.

Who could have guessed that selling Avril Lavigne dolls to the target market of me and no-one else was not going to be a successful business strategy in the long term?
